Question

R1Soft MySQL CDP Backup Add-On with MariaDB?

Does anyone know if R1Soft's MySQL CDP add-on is compatible with MariaDB?

Hmm, since I can't edit my post, I'll just leave this here for anyone with a similar question. I just spoke with R1Soft's support department, and the answer is "no".

Very interested in this... did they say why it wasn't compatible ? because of the Aria storage engine ?

Unfortunately they didn't clarify why, as they were quick to get off the phone when they realized I was using their software through a reseller (my hosting company, who couldn't answer this question) instead of making plans to purchasing a license directly...

Any luck with this? I think we are just going to test it and try and get it working even though there's no "official" support.

Unfortunately, no. I'm just using MariaDB (via eva2000's awesome version of Centmin) and the standard R1Soft CDP without the MySQL plugin.

Did you try and get it working on R1Soft?

So any luck? Also, are you using CDP2 or CDP3?

CDP 2.0 and yes, it works.

We have MariaDB running on a separate VM and back it up with R1Soft just fine.

Sweet, thanks! Might just have to look closer at MariaDB now.

Backups work, but have you tried a restore? The reason I ask is we are using Percona MySQL and r1soft 2 (I hope they upgrade sometime soon!). Backups work fine, but restores fail if we use the MySQL part of the interface - we need to restore the files through Browse.

So, I'm curious if it works better with your non-MySQL flavor of MySQL than mine... And I figured you'd want a heads up in case you *do* need to restore and weren't aware of the problem.

Daniel
