Thanks for that it seems that they limited your CPU to a very low MHz...

Just to put it out there. HE Fremont has nearly a weekly downtime, and I really have to recommend you stay away from them.

    hello,

where do you get this from? We are using HE / Fremont2 as our PoP in the U.S. as well, and we have a de facto uptime of 100% there, going back several months - I have zabbix and nagios/munin graphs showing this, and the monitoring for Fremont is being done from London Telehouse and Vienna, AT, in intervals going down to as low as 15/30 seconds, so monitoring goes across the ocean and all through the HE backbone and still shows that uptime.

    cheers -
    oz.

Really? If it is true, that's something important.

In the several IRC networks I'm in, I hear constant complaints about near weekly down times.

FMT1 is the older of the two and the one with problem power I believe.

    We're using them

Not long enough to post a full review but enough to see the network is solid (thanks to Quadranet) and tickets have been responded to in less than half an hour, including late evening etc.

You've been here long enough to know better than to post second-hand hearsay without direct experience. Linode host in FM1. There were a couple of power issues in August and the previous was in May I think. Certainly not "nearly weekly" and I'm sure they'll fix it. You could have checked for yourself first before looking a bit of a numpty. See http://status.linode.com/

    Both have had power issues.

FMT2 was really bad about 2 years ago where they had 3 - 4 power outages in a year, all lasting 1+ hour each. We actually picked FMT1 over FMT2 because of that very reason. Since then, though, FMT1 has had 4 full site outages and 1 multi row outage (the one that hit linode mostly).

They're going to be replacing FMT1's power setup entirely but who knows how long that'll take them.

Isn't FMT1 the one that is also being affected by the DDOS attacks from/to Chinese clients?

    That's FMT2.

FMT1 has oodles of bandwidth since it's their core location.

Your right, near-weekly was an exaggeration. I'm a bit dramatic. Actually, DeltaAnime (Francisco) pointed it out, and then I noticed others complaining in other networks I frequent. I wouldn't say something (even if I said it a bit [okay a lot] dramatically) without having heard about it from reliable people.
