UK/EU Windows Hosting for Database Storage
Hi folks
First of all, apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place or whatever
I'm currently searching for some "space"/service for my pet project. It's a casual project so I'm not looking to pay a huge amount of money, but I'm otherwise flexible. I have shared hosting for my website and I'm pretty happy with it (ASP.NET, Silverlight, WCF RIA). BUT they just can't satisy my storage needs. So, I'm looking for a server which can hold (and run well) an MS SQL 2008r2 instance. It'll be pretty big, possibly 60-70GB of data. Not masses of processing, mainly just transferring of reasonably sized data sets.
I'd guess I'm looking at Windows Server 2008(r2), minimum 2GB RAM, 100-150GB of storage, 1TB+ data transfer. I'm based in the UK, but think I'd be ok to accept EU?
Would there be any BIG problems looking to the US?
I'm pretty new to all of this, do any hosts offer SLPA MSSQL 2008R2 Web Edition? Any guesstimates of monthly cost before I ring around today?
Sorry if my post is a bit of a ramble and thanks in advance

Anything in EU is fine.
Look at EuroVPS for Windows 2008 hosting. But it's not "cheap" -- yet also not unreasonably priced.
SolarVPS is in New York, and their prices are slightly higher.|| Need a good host?

Have you considered Amazon EC2 for this sort of thing? We spin up instances on demand when needed to process the data and keep the data itself on a couple of EBS stores . Keeps costs relatively low.

Self Managed will be fine
No backup required
Geordie as in Newcastle
I've looked at EC2, but always seems to work out expensive. Maybe I'm doing it wrong! I'm pretty new to this kind of thing, so any advice would be wonderful.
Thank you for the suggestions so far, will look into them when I get home.

Fair one,
Take a look at burstnet.eu then, they have VPS's in Manchester that fit your requirements.
e.g.
CPU: 2.5GHZ, RAM: 2.5GB, DISKSPACE: 150GB, BANDWIDTH: 2000GB/MONTH
Windows 2k8 R2 Enterprise
£29.95 p/month
Or the higher end one: CPU: 4GHZ, RAM: 4GB, DISKSPACE: 250GB, BANDWIDTH: 4000GB/MONTH is £44.95 p/month█ -> INCEPTION HOSTING LIMITED Since 2010!

UPDATE - Burstnet won't do SQL 2008R2 Web Edition. Only Express.
Back to the drawing board!

If you have your own license you need to provide an ISO we can DL that goes with your key. We do check keys with MS prior to installing them, so please don't give us a hacked key.
