Need a VPS hosted in California
As the title suggests I need a VPS with a Datacenter / IP in California. I need it to setup OpenVPN which I will manage myself so I doubt I need any high requirements, just something very basic in specs and price.
I do need to be able to add on additional IPs for like $1/month or so.
I would highly prefer a datacenter / IP for Petaluma California but anywhere around that area of California in general would be fine.
How much for such a package? Any host recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

Start by looking at http://www.datacentermap.com/
Seems like closest to Petaluma is http://www.datacentermap.com/usa/cal...n-village.html
I'd look for something in San Fran and then search for VPS providers in the area.
$1 / mo for IPV4 is getting sticky with IP space exhaustion, but you may find providers who will do it.

Thanks, I'll post in the quotes section to see if I can find something reasonable. Any recommendations in this thread would be helpful as well.
Thanks

That's too expensive, I'm looking for something $5-$10 range since I don't really need high specs to run OpenVPN

QuickWeb (WebNX) and DirectSpace (Coresite). Both in LA.
You will only find out how good a provider is when the going gets tough

QuickWeb has the cheapest package at $10/month and to be honest I don't want to spend that much right now.
DirectSpace looks within my price range, any feedback about their service?

BuyVM is in the Bay Area.I think people are running VPNs on their $15 a year VPS (I have one I'm using as a DNS server and backup).

BuyVM is all out of stock otherwise I would have signed up with them.
DirectSpace or YardVPS do not offer additional IPs otherwise they would have been my second choice.
Quickweb is out of stock in LA.
Still looking guys

You should check out Thrust:VPS. For about $5.95 a month, you'll get 512mb guaranteed ram, and 1gb burst. Additional IPs are also $1 each, although you'd have to write a ticket to them and ask them to invoice it to you. They have a location down here in Los Angeles as well. They're very cheap and their service is great as well. As for uptime, it's always improving too. I've used them recently for the past 3 months and they were great.

I've seen many comments on LEB by you or your staff which has led me to believe you guys don't really care about customers who have basic / minimum packages with you guys. And it makes sense, why spend more time on less valuable customers ... right?

Thrust VPS is currently being updated, I'll check them out once they are back online.
Anymore suggestions are welcomed.

For a California VPS, I'd recommend checking out a Xen VPS from Lightwave.net, in San Jose at CoreSite. I've got one I use a lot for VPN use.
I've got a BuyVM VPS, too, which is a great deal, but the IP address isn't seen by most geolocation services as a US IP, so that's something to be aware of.

It's limited to the LAN so it isn't a big deal
We're keeping an eye out for abuse so yea.

Would you know if you are able to use OpenVPN efficiently with Xen? From what I've seen Xen packages are more expensive than OpenVZ and I'm not entirely sure if OpenVPN will work with Xen.
I'm leaning towards DirectSpace because I found out they do offer IP addons, but it's $2/IP which is why I am having second thoughts about them.

OpenVPN works great with Xen.
I've used DirectSpace in the past, but I can't recommend them. At that time their only data center was in Portland, though.

Well I read somewhere that Xen has some issue with IPTables or something, can't remember exactly. Plus like I said it's more expensive than OpenVZ so I don't really want to spend the extra $$$ for it.
When exactly did you have an account with them? I've been in touch with them and their support is quite fast and easy going so far.
