Need VPS with veth interface
Hi,
I have been looking for US based VPS which would have veth interface enabled but cannot find any.
Requirements:
- Located at US west coast
- Linux server with veth interface, iptables and tap/tun enabled
- Reasonable price
Any help or pointer would be highly appreciated.
Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,
I hate it when people do this but I have to answer your question with a question, why do you need a veth interface?
Tthey are pretty rare now not sure there are any hosts using them, the reason being is that allowing veth interfaces for customers could be a potential security risk as you would 'potentially' be able to sniff your neighbours packets.
Perhaps if you let us know what it is your trying to achieve?
There are a ton of great hosts but I very much doubt any of them with be using veth.█ -> INCEPTION HOSTING LIMITED Since 2010!

I was actually expecting this question to pop-up
I would like to setup OpenVPN Access Server, not the community server, and it seems to require the veth interface.
I'm aware that there are security issues related to veth and it could mean maintenance headache to provider but at least in Europe some smaller companies are offering VPS with veth.
Thanks
Chris

Ah ok, I am pretty sure you can install AS on any Xen VPS tbh (running away to verify that)

Yep seems to work fine on a XEN PV vps which should open the market up for you a bit.

OpenVPN AS works on KVM too.

Yeah as some of the other folks have pointed out, we typically recommend AGAINST openVZ for this type of use case (VPN). Xen, KVM or VMWare will all provide you with a platform that is capable of installing any type of software you'd like because they present vharware that looks more 'real' to the OS.

As it happens off the back of this tread we just created a template with OpenVPN access server pre installed, seems to be a hit so far
Obviously of no use what so ever to the OP as he needs west coast USA and our servers would have silly latency to the west coast.█ -> INCEPTION HOSTING LIMITED Since 2010!
