Problem with storage detection and lost password

Hello,

I have a HP ProLiant DL380 dedicated server with Windows Server 2008 R2.

I have lost Administrator password and I have to use Password recovery live boot cd programs.

I have tried with some password reset programs but when I use them, they can't detect storage (hard).

for example "Reset Windows Password (passcape.com)" program says:
"The program can't find any hard disk drives in your system.
Probably you should load an additional IDE/SATA/SCSI/RAID disk
driver in order to continue" and Active@ password changer can't detect the storage and needs .inf driver.

Please help me how can I find .inf driver storge of my server?

Warmly.

Is this server being rented by you somewhere or colocated?

I would suggest opening a ticket to your datacenter and requesting a password retrieval or a password reset. There should be no issues with the technicians assisting you with that request. Good luck!

Another reason I "love" hardware raid. There are some programs you can use in linux to reset the password instead of using a reset disk, and then this way you can possibly find the drivers for your hard disk controller and load these up as well.

I would check out this article on how to reset the admin password in windows using knoppix std: http://www.madirish.net/?article=162

With any luck knoppix will see your hard disks whereas these dos based boot cds are not seeing them.
