Virpus Networks - 12 Month review (or there abouts)
I have been a client of Virpus for almost 12 months now, and I am sad to say I will no longer be.
Before Virpus changed their structuring, they seemed like a company that was prepared to give it a red-hot go. In fact, I remember several times speaking to Mr. Odim on live chat about some service provisions, and getting into a conversation regarding the new cloud services they were intending to offer. Back then, it seemed Virpus was prepared to care about the customers - even if it was the customers little slice of the care-pie.
Certainly not anymore.
I currently am viewing my Virpus Portal Homepage, where a list of 22 Technical support tickets reside over the period of around 9 months. Of these, 1 is a question regarding IPV6, which they still have not got implemented, even though they have stated many times in their social networks that they are ready to go with it, and 1 is a request for Reverse Entry addition - which they did without problem. +1 for them for that, at least.
Outside of that, the remainder are tickets that have escalated from casually informing them of a problem, right up to (out of sheer frustration) Screaming for help due to tickets falling on deaf ears.
Now, Around 6 months ago I actually thought there might be a reason for it - and there likely is still a reason for it. I assumed they might be flat out busy with upgrades or what-have-you, and the end result would be a far superior service. Not even remotely close to accurate.
In fact, since that time, I've now become convinced they are not even listening.
Virpus Networks has the following sections in the client support area:
*Server Status : Which is empty (No servers are being monitored)
*Network Issues : Which currently shows 1 SCHEDULED maintenance for 2010, and 1 SCHEDULED maintenance for 2009. It is now 2011 - over half way through it, in fact.
*Announcements : Of which there are none.
*A facebook like : Linking to a facebook group - Which is last updated over 12 months ago.
*A Forum : In which is currently flooded with Forum Bots and their viagra-ey ways - includes a network announcement section, which again is no longer updated.
HOWEVER - Despite the fact there are no updates, the network has been far from trouble-free. In fact, Not 48 hours ago, my two VPS units were down for a total of 26 hours. In that time, the virpus management console AND customer support sections were also down. There has been absolutely no information passed on to the client in any way.
I have also had, in the last week alone, a sales person effectively tell me I was LYING about having a licence for installatron with virpus, and after a rather insulting exchange, I requested them to refer to invoices No. XXX and YYY. At the very least, I was met with an apology for "the misunderstanding" - However, I was also met with having to go without service of that kind for several days. Sales support cannot even read the client profile enough to find out they have an addon for the service, which is shown in WHM.
I will, however, bring up one support request that I was actually mildly impressed with. My service was suffering severe harddrive latency, and I requested information from the service personnel, obviously frustrated due to the amount of times I'd requested support. A gentleman by the name of "John" was the first and ONLY time I received a real and honest answer - he informed me there was a problem with the server, and gave me an update after 2 hours how it was going. I appreciated the HONESTY. So, I left it at that, and waited patiently. That's all it took.
So - I am sad to say virpus has burned their bridges with me. These guys have been under "review" for the provision of services for our training provider in Queensland, Australia. The VPS nodes are effectively used for student "development" - a unit to learn how to host websites. These students not only use these 2 virpus machines, but also a fleet of 4 VPS units from YardVPS - the 15.00/year VPS machines.
Over the last 4 months, YardVPS 15.00/year machines have outperformed Virpus VPS machines
in availability by 95.32% Uptime (YardVPS) Versus 87.8% (Virpus). This relates to times where the VPS units were used in the classroom, and monitored on the master instructor machine. These times are in no way meant to be official representation of uptime, but ultimately it reflects the reality of how we have experienced the services.
So, instead of purchasing another 16 units for training use, we are going with an alternative company. At the present, we use hardware units for most of the lessons, and use online VPS units for practical tasks.
It's a real shame to see these guys fall so far down the ladder. I cannot even begin to explain how dissapointed I am with virpus. I really do hope there are clients that are experiencing greater service from this company - I'd hate to think they are horrible to everyone.

I had similar issues but decided to leave them just after a month of seeing enough downtimes and delayed support ticket responses(48hrs+). They've build up at a bad reputation from being a 'good' provider

Why did you choose Virpus? Cheap vs Reliable, which is more important to you? Stay away from Virpus!

i was also their customer. i quit them few months before only. they seemed good only to me. they rarely took about 3 days to respond my tickets. but they were very fine. your post now just smashed my look on them.
i left them coz, once they said that their servers were hacked and so all data were erased. they changed the ip, they lost their backup server also. entirely lost all my customers, forum members everything. hence i left them once my plan gets finished.
really sorry for your grief. have a nice day
