Looking for VPS running Arch Linux
Hi All,
I'm looking for a VPS provider, based in the UK, that provides solutions that use arch linux.
I have come across these two providers and was wondering if anybody had heard of or had any experience with them?

I have had experience with vpsville.co.uk, it was not a good one, around 2 years ago I grabbed a city plan as a temporary backup server and the performance was HORRIBLE and they had me on a shared 10mbit link which made it useless for my needs at the time as I was lucky to get 4mbit from it at good times.
Not sure of any other UK companies that offer Arch to be honest.
I think the reason behind this is that most hosts are using solusvm and it is not a supported distro meaning that either you need to know what your doing and set up your ip etc in rc.conf after purchase so you can reach it or the host has to do it for you so it can be a PITA.
We considered removing it as an offering because of this but instead decided to keep the current versions and no further updates after 2011.07
thehosthouse.co.uk seem to offer 2010 32 and 64 bit on their plans, might want to check them out.█ -> INCEPTION HOSTING LIMITED Since 2010!

Do you have to have Arch Linux? Are there any other Linux options you would consider?

I never used arch for no need reason, but if you want to load a custom ISO just use the search for XEN HVM and KVM. Plenty of providers who provide this types of hosting.
How can you factor in VAT when comparing since you are subject to VAT on everything? Obviously purchases made outside the EU are not going to be collected with VAT, but are you not still responsible to pay it on your own? - Tim Flavin from "Hostigation.com"

Good point you could try racksrv.com they offer XEN-HVM which will allow you to install Arch.

Even though Ramhost,us is USA-based, they also offer KVM VPS in the UK and also ArchLinux as possible OS:

I have a VPS with them in Germany and it is a brilliant ride up to now.

You could ask a few VPS providers if they're willing to add a Arch Linux template for you?
Surely it won't be too difficult for them.

I'm giving QualityServers.co.uk a try.
Ordered the VPS this morning and it still has not provisioned.
I sent them a ticket asking how long it normally takes and did not get a response. However they did send me a questionnaire asking what think of their support.
Hmmm

It's ok, I didn't read the entire email that was sent to me say in that I would need to view my responses online. I was just checking my inbox.
So far I'm impressed with them.
