Have you contacted support prior to post to WHT? I assume this is isolated to your VPS and not the whole networks as ramhost site is online and we do have a third party monitoring system running over ramhost without issue.

If you are are current member of RAM Host then we suggest you submit a ticket in the web control panel - see members - doing this will ensure the fastest response possble
    Hope that helps....

Did you open a ticket and then just post this thread. If that is the case that is not fair on RamHost and if you keep replying to the ticket it only just bumps it down the que (so dont reply to it asking for an update).

If you can SSH from outside and ping it from outside likely Chinese government blacklisted the IP (range).

    Hello,

As we emailed you (and everyone else affected) last Monday and again last Friday, all hardware in our Kansas city location is being upgraded starting on Monday and finishing today.

Right now about 80% of vps's have been moved over.

These are the servers we originally launched the company with (desktop cpu, no raid, poor reliability) and are grossly inferior to the current servers powering our other locations running xeon's and raid10.

For posterity, here is a picture of the crap that has been powering this location for the last 2+ years that we're getting rid off this week:
    http://ramnet.us/kcmo/old-servers.jpg

Due to the large volume of support tickets from people that ignored our 2 maintenance emails, all of those will be answered once all servers are finished and we'll deal with any individual issues that might remain at that time.

You can refer to our news page, our forums, or hop on our irc, for further information and updates.

I'm curious why ramnet even had to post here or why the OP had to make a thread here trying to make this thread a support center for them.

On both the news and forum pages it says what the issue is, and they have sent emails to everyone more then once. The op is also posting every 10 minutes, I am assuming he did this via the tickets and kept getting bumped down the list if its anything like this thread.

Because like everything in this forum the second something doesn't go a clients way they run to the forums to get answers rather than contacting support OR READING THE EMAILS SENT FROM RAMHOST. What a shocker. This happens way to often.

Techy & techjr it's not exactly that way. From announced 10 - 20 minutes of downtime it became in some cases 20hrs of downtime.
Maintenance mail in those cases wasn't accurate, not even close to that and contacting support wasn't helpful either as support didn't work over that time. Infact I closed unanswered ticket around 10+ hrs later.
(that's just for explanation not arguing).

    Ignored?

Lets be fair there. Even with maintenance emails we didn't expect around 20+ hrs downtime. I (as example) at vz6 and most likely some others too opened ticket after many hours (in my case 20hrs) passed because simple thought that something went wrong with our vpses in this maintenance. As vps finally came back online I closed unanswered ticket half day later and everything seems fine now.
And don't get me wrong... I didn't reply here to critize you, just to explain why after so long UNEXPECTED downtime some people opened ticket disregarding of this maintenance mail:

For clients on vz1, vz2, vz3, vz4, and vz6 who had their servers upgraded earlier this year, your impact will be having your servers de-racked and moved to a different rack in the datacenter, which will incur a minimal (10-20 minutes) downtime.
    20+ hrs wasn't expected - that's all.

There was a maintenance email on the 15th with that in it for a window on the 18th-20th, and a second mail was sent on the 19th revising the date to the 22nd - 24th and revising it to an extended outage for everyone after it became clear the method described in the first email wasn't going to be practical.

I am currently investigating why some people only got the first email, some people only got the second email, and why some people got no email so that there is no surprise maintenance event for some people like this ever again.
