A good VPS provider like Linode

I know the term "you get what you pay for", which is why I would like someone to recommend a good VPS provider that doesn't oversell their servers.

Linode is really good with tons of great reviews, however it is not an option because they don't accept paypal.

For the server specs, I'm looking at something like:

Location: Must be east coast USA
    RAM: 1GB+
    HDD: At least 10GB
    Bandwidth: At least 100GB

And preferably a stable network that isn't too slow.

I'll be using this VPS to host game servers, which will require me to often recompile the code (which takes really long on slow servers, so I'd like to get something that could do it reasonably fast).

My budget is under $40, but anything under $30 would be preferred. So if anyone knows some great reputable VPS companies who accept paypal don't hesitate to post please!

maybe if you email them they will open up a new payment option for you with i believe a lot of hosts are willing to do this.

    Linode will not.
What did you expect was going to happen?

You'll want to check on Paypal -- I don't know that part.

Linode is very much a one of a kind provider. They were one of if not the first VPS provider and developed their own control panel years before anyone else.

Until I start my VPS company, ') there's no one out there who matches them in quality of service and client to server ratio.

My top 3 picks for quality VPS's are 1) Linode 2) 6Sync 3) Nuclear Fallout

I recommend you go with Nuclear Fallout (which accepts paypal!). They aren't very well known, but have been around for a while and are extremely experience in game servers as well. They are side by side with Linode and 6Sync in terms of quality, service (ticket response times are insane), and game server experience is a plus since they are primarily a GSP. Their VPS's are HVM, which is even better than Linode and 6Sync's Xen VPS's. Their pricing is quite competitive too, and you get a variety of locations to choose from along with premium InterNAP bandwidth. They also have SSD's for their VPS's without much of a price jump, which can be useful depending on the type of game server your running. To me it seems the choice is clear

Though I recently made a gameserver with AlienVPS and everything is going smoothly so far. Its only been 2 weeks but their performance is promising and I'm very happy. I would categorize them as a semi-budget VPS provider. Their Xen Plans are the lowest priced of the 4 providers I've listed. Give them a try if you want!

6sync doesn't use Xen anymore, all their new nodes are KVM.

Actually, a lot of providers match them in client to server ratio...

6sync may be able to accomodate your PayPal needs if you ask them directly.

I run one instance of eAthena, which is a Ragnarok Online server. It uses C and not Java.
