    123Systems - CPanel License Issue

My patience has ran out so I'm posting my issue with 123Systems lack of support. I took advantage of their discount for vps with cpanel, so I opted for the 1 yr purchase (expires 2/2012). I discovered that the cpanel license on my vps has expired on 8/18 and have been waiting for support ever since. I've opened support tickets with the Support Department in the passed and usually gets resolved. Even though they closed tickets without notification, I was happy since it was resolved anyways. This latest support ticket was opened with the Licensing Department, since I think it is the appropriate channel.

    Still waiting..

    Ticket #614840

    Client 22/08/2011 10:32
How about getting this issue fixed??
    Client 19/08/2011 10:42
If this is actively being worked on, can I get an update please.
Are we still waiting on the license provider? Should I go ahead and purchase a license?
    Need this resolved.
    Client 19/08/2011 00:22
What can we do to fix this?! I'm still not able to get into cPanel / WHM to make any changes.
    Client 18/08/2011 17:16
How's it going? I'm till not able to get into cPanel / WHM.

I am actively working on this ticket and looking into the issue for you, It appears to be an issue with our license provider.

    Client 18/08/2011 13:24
    Hello,
    Anyone looking into this?
    Client 18/08/2011 00:39
    Hello,
I can't seem to get into my site's WHM.

    It directed me to: http://www.cpanel.net/apps/verify/index.cgi

    Status says:
    expired/deactivated by rockware on 2011-08-13 06:50:20.

I tried running the command as root:
    root@server1 [/]# /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
    Updating cPanel license...Done. Update Failed!
    Error message:
The cPanel license server said that your license has been expired.
    For more information visit: http://www.cpanel.net/lic.html

The exact message was: The license is expired.

    How can we fix?
Don't know what to do at this point. I'm thinking that I will have to go with another provider when the account is due for renewal...or sooner.

Wow, that's a tough spot to be in with 6 months of paid service left. Not really much you can do except maybe try to escalate your ticket within 123systems if possible since you do not seem to be getting satisfaction.

If you're desperate I'd get a license through someone like buycpanel.com, grab your backups and move to someone else.

Something as trivial as an expired cPanel license should take 5 minutes to fix.

Well I take it they are not a cPanel partner
so they are have to deal through a third party
give them time to resolve as it takes longer going through a 3rd party

Just get a license your self temporarily
only $15 I know thats not the best of solutions
but at least you could access your files via whm

Just FYI you do not need an active license to pull the cpanel backups off

else you will just have to wait til they can resolve it

but yes it takes less than a minute to reactivate a cpanel license

unless cpanel blocks the ip for some reason

Did anyone else lose a VPS with 123Systems last month?

One day I noticed that my secondary DNS machine was down. It the VPS control panel for that account it showed a different IP address, and the stats indicated it was a fresh install of the operating system. I submitted a ticket. They said something went wrong and they lost the entire node, data and all. What a bummer!

Finally got a reply from Henry J at 22/08/2011 19:26. My licensing issue has been resolved

I wonder how much longer I had to wait if I didn't post here.

When he originally bought the server he had issues with the IP we issued him to begin with, So his IP addresses were changed but the staff member that changed them left the old IP addresses within WHMCS therefore when the staff member replied to his ticket the first time (And issued another license), It was issued to his original IP instead of his new IP.

This was entirely our fault since his new IP wasn't properly changed within WHMCS.

What was the delay in responding to his ticket, though?

As for as I know 123systems doesn't have a response time guarantee besides a 24hr window.

Indeed, not sure if I'm reading this wrong how ever it seems the op was bumping the ticket between various hours and I'm assuming thats what caused the 24 window to restart?

Not so because bumping it would throw the ticket at the bottom of the pile and it could have been accidentally overlooked. It happens, good thing it is now resolved.

I didn't reply to my ticket over the weekend and figure it would fix come Monday morning. I asked again for updates and no answer, so I posted here to vent.

Regardless all is fixed and working now. Thanks Andrew for clarifying.
