Budget VPS recommendations?
I'm thinking of buying a budget VPS (<$10/mo). Before asking anything further I would like to tell everyone that, it would only be used for testing purpose & not mission critical sites. Most of the projects I work on are based on Wordpress/Joomla etc. Before deploying the website on client's server I would like to run it on the VPS (Currently I'm using reseller hosting). So, I'm thinking of buying a 512MB RAM VPS. Will it be sufficient for running 2-3 test websites (Wordpress/Joomla/corePHP) in parallel?
At the moment I've only checked BuyVM (Although I've heard it is very hard to get) & VolumeDrive's VPS packages. I also looked at LowEndBox, but there are way too many offers to choose from. Also, I'm not sure about the quality of those providers. So, can anyone recommend me some options to choose from? I'm not looking for some 99% uptime guarantee providers, a small bit of downtime would be acceptable.
Also, out of OpenVZ & KVM, which one would be better?

You really don't need 512megs of ram to run 2-3 websites for testing purposes. 128Megs should be more than enough.
Personally, I am with Alvotech (host: wwdisk.gdx.be) and I really love them. Their servers are fast (disk io mostly arround 50mb/s) and the network seems to be stable.
I would stay away from VolumeDrives tho. They were my first option too but they couldn't even answer a simple question towards their support (pre-sale). I've read many simular things so I really wouldn't go with them.
I think the 15$/yr buyvm.net package would work just fine for you

you can also check out http://96mb.com for a more comprehensive set of reviews on low end VPS hosts.
KVM & XEN over OpenVZ.
BuyVM are indeed hard to get and Volumedrive it seems are now taking up to a month to set up peoples servers with no guarantee you will ever git it.█ -> INCEPTION HOSTING LIMITED Since 2010!

I'll disagree about the memory use. If you want to configure and test three or four Wordpress or other database driven sites on your VPS, having a memory configuration closer to what you will have when you move to a production server makes a lot of sense. 512MB is certainly enough to run three Wordpress sites with all the plugins and fancy themes your customers will want. 128MB? You can make it work, but it won't be representative of the environment the sites will be in when they go live.
You can get a 512MB VPS for $6 a month from Burst.net, and it would work fine if you know what you are doing. Like any un-managed VPS, you will have to configure it, and support will be only for the raw, OS-only instance, not for a LAMP server that you need.
In your case, configuring sites for eventual move to a production server, I would recommend using the standard LAMP stack, using CentOS, Apache, MySQL and PHP. This is going to be the closest to a default configuration as you will find. Avoid temptation to install caches, other web servers, alternatives to BIND, etc. at this point. You'll end up spending more time tweaking stuff on your VPS than you will developing sites, and no one's paying you to tweak your server.

I would recommend going with a 512 MB or 1 GB VPS from BurstNET.
BurstNET Linux VPS (Unmanaged):
512 MB is $5.95
1 GB is $9.95
A 512 MB VPS can easily handle what you are looking to do.
I have 2 of the 512MB VPS accounts from BurstNET and have nothing but good things to say about the VPS performance, uptime, and their support staff.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
I'm thinking of buying from 1 of these 6 providers.
OpenVZ:
PHP Code:BuyVM "512/1024" 512MB/1024MB $5.95 Out of Stock
VolumeDrive "VPS Package 1" 1GB/? $4.95 Available
BurstNET "VPS PACKAGE #1" 512MB/? $5.95 Available
PHP Code:BitCable "Peta" 512MB $8(LEB Offer) Out of Stock
ZazoomVPS "KVM 1024" 1GB $7(LEB Offer) Out of Stock
BuffaloVPS "Standard" 512MB $3.75(LEB Offer) Out of Stock
