I'm looking for an alternative to using rsync which of course only keeps one backup until it is overwritten. Is this a viable alternative? Do I understand correctly that R1Soft takes snapshots as often as you like? What are the processor/memory/bandwidth implications on the primary server of doing this?

What ratio of backup disk is required compared to the source disk?

Is it possible to backup more than 1 server (owned by the same company) to one backup account? I see you provide one R1Soft client per account. Are more available? We currently have 3 VPS accounts that we would like to backup.

What ratio of backup disk is required compared to the source disk?

R1Soft offers both QuickLZ and industry standard zlib (Zip). Data is compressed at the block-level and only stored once until it changes or is no longer needed. Typical compression ratios are 2:1.

When you say ratio of 2:1 is that source to secondary, e.g., 100GB on source server takes up 50GB on backup server or the other way round? Is this based on keeping multiple copies going back several months?

Each additional agent license costs $10 per month.

The ratio is based on single copy. 100GB on source server may take up 100GB on backup server if you want to keep 7 daily copies.
