Can they bring Facebook down? I don't think so, after all they backed out of bringing down Amazon.

I say bring it on! They won't get too far though, Facebook's smarter than that

It's a load of nonsense.

They wouldn't give so much notice if they were going to do it so it's clearly just some eejits trying to stir up the pot.

They're giving facebook advance notice and then planning to take them down?

Very ambitious and hands up to them if they manage it.

If Hackers were really going to take down Facebook, why would they be warning people in advance? Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?
I see this as a Publicity scam.

Just remember, you can never bee too big to fail. Look at the attack that took down the PSN a few months back. Who would ever have imagined Sony's pride and joy would be taken down for over a month.

While it could be a scar tactic, it can also be the move of a VERY cocky group of people. Anonymous is known for their Cockyness almost as well as the damage they caused.

Do I think it is going to happen... Yes, do I think it will be by Anonymous on November 5th, not sure yet.

er.. no.

They most likely want to wait to "gather the masses," as the attack would very likely not be something done by one person but by a group of people with botnets.

I've read this was officially denied by Anonymous group, but they said it can still happen.

I'm not at all a facebook fan anyway

I wouldn't say the BART strike failed. It succeeded in shutting down a couple of the transit stations, which while not huge was bad enough.

You would think they would want it to be a surprise to facebook but I guess it's more of a challenge too them if Facebook already knew, but I don't see this happening but we never know like Kdisk said, we never could have expedited Sony to get hacked.

If they are going to try to DDoS Facebook. Good luck, rofl. They have a metric ton of bandwidth in multiple data centers.

True, fail might of been a bit too stern. But it didn't succeed like they anticipated. The Embarcadero Station was fine (one a few hundred feet from our HQ)
