I want to host a .co.in domain with php/mysql application on shared hosting service. I tried the best shared hosting services like ipage, justhost etc.. but no of them supports to register with or tranfer co.in domains. They said I can host co.in but not register or tranfer a co.in with them.
What should I do now ? Which is the best hosting serivice with a .co.in domain ? I need lots of space, and mysql storage but will have few visitors.
Is it possible to buy domain from somewhere and host it on ipage or justhost ?
Im not familar with hosting services, please help me.

Yes, you can buy a domain and host it "nearly" anywhere (I'm sure there's some exception some place, so I put "nearly" in there to cover myself.)
Its probably better to maintain you domain name separately any way. There have been cases where a web host will hold a domain name hostage because of a dispute on another service (like web hosting), or cases where the hosting company goes out of business and you don't know how to get control of your domain name again.
CO.IN domains are not only handled by ResellerClub, but they are on sale this month. You should be able to find them for less than $5 USD per year.
There are many ResellerClub resellers. DirectI is an Indian registrar, and they own and operate ResellerClub and "private domain registry".
You can register the domain with any registrar, and then buy your webhosting account any where else. When you sign up for web hosting, you will get the "name servers" to use to point your domain name to the server that your website is on. You return to the registrar, log in and enter the "name servers", and your domain name is now pointed to that server.
When you move your site, you just repeat this process. In this way, your domain name is not tied to a specific hosting provider.

jamshed_11946 just wrote that resellerclub/directi dont support co.in as requested.
But it should be fully possible to register elsewhere and use it with a seperate host.

A lot of people get confused with domain host and domain registrar when they first get involved in web hosting.
A domain registrar provides the actual domain name registration service.
A domain host provides a platform for you to deliver services over the internet (usually web site/s, email, etc.)
Your domain doesn't have to be registered with the same company that hosts it. In fact, the two services are often provided by separate companies (i.e. register with company A, but host with company B).

I usually do not kill myself over things like this but then again it's for your benefit so here goes...
You can easily host your website with any company at all. Including the companies you just mentioned without having to transfer your domain to them. All you need to do is just change your DNS server and you'll be all done.
Usually people do not like to Host their website with the person who register it for them as well. This is because if something were to happen to the host, the domain will be taken along with the website. Domain is the most important thing as people usually know you by that and not the IP or etc.
So with all that said, you can easily host with anyone at all and still keep whoever you registered your domain with. There's no problem with that at all. Or if you really want to, you can try looking for a ResellerClub Reseller. They will be able to help you with the domain quite easily. Usually if they are doing that, then you can be assured that they are also doing Web Hosting.

I am confused, do you already own the .co.in domain and want to transfer it somewhere or are you looking to buy it?

Is the .co.in domain already registered? If it is a registered one you can host it with any hosting service...Just need to update the nameservers at your registrar end.

I use reseller club all the time when it comes to registering .co.in/in/local indian domains. Just register with them & host elsewhere. Simple. No need to have both the domain & hosting at one location. Also, domain has nothing to do with your hosting(php/mysql). A domain will cost you 5 bucks, hosting charges depend on what you want.

He's wrong. I'm a ResellerClub reseller, and CO.IN is not only sold by ResellerClub, but its on sale this month.
Here's part of the pricing table on http://www.resellerclub.com/products...n-registration :
Quote:
.in (On Sale) $9.99 $1.89 $9.79 $1.89 $9.59 $1.89 $9.49 $1.89
.co.in, .net.in, .org.in, .gen.in, .firm.in,
.ind.in (On Sale) $7.29 $1.89 $6.99 $1.89 $6.99 $1.89 $6.69 $1.89
|
To get those prices from ResellerClub you have to buy in with $500 or so, but you can register the domain with any ResellerClub reseller for about $5 right now. Search Google for "Supersite + Domains" and you should get some.

Hi,
You can get .co.in domain from an Indian Hosting organization and that would be the bestway to get it , however you can host the website anywhere.
