HC experience?

I am checking Hosting Controller as a cluster on both Linux and Windows systems.

Any real experience with HC8 please?

Thanks.

I have had mixed experience with HC8. Still it is better than any other Windows Hosting Automation software available in the market. I have never tested it on Linux. For Linux hosting, Cpanel is highly recommended. Downside of Hosting Controller is it is not very well integrated with WHMCS.

I never touch cPanel again. I started with cPanel since 2003, and it brought more troubles. If Linux standalone, DA is much better.

However, I am looking for a cluster for both Windows and Linux. I only know H-Sphere, and now, HC8. That's why I raise question here

Thanks for sharing anyway!

Well .. we have been using Hsphere for our clustered hosting and found that its far better than hosting controller . So my vote goes Hsphere instead of HC

The downside of H-Sphere is it's owned by Parallels. And not only me, many others have bad experiences with their support. Helm was a very good product before it's bought by Parallels.

Agreed. All panels which were acquired by Parallels have no more development as Parallels bought to knock out these products out of competition.

Do not make any hasty decision. Hosting Controller DEMO is also available so better to download DEMO before switching to it.As far as my experience is concerned I am happy with it managing my Windows and Linux servers and their support team is easily accessible unlike Parallels support team.

Thanks for sharing.

From your experiences, is it a true cluster design? And customers can access both Windows and Linux server from central login, can't they?

@Prashant: what issue do you face to when using HC with WHMCS please?

Thanks.

The main issue is WHMCS itself is not directly supporting HC. HC has developed its own module for WHMCS and you can create hosting in HC via WHMCS. The downside is there are lots of bugs and if WHMCS brings a new update in which even if there is a slight change in its configuration, HC may not work with WHMCS since HC will then have to find a patch for it. Also, the major issue I have faced is that all the websites are created inside a single user in WHMCS for a specific customer. Say, I create abc.com for customer ABC in HC via WHMCS, a webadmin will be created for abc.com in the HC. So far so good. But now if I create xyz.com for the same customer, instead of creating it separately, xyz.com will get created under abc.com which means xyz.com will not have its own FTP user. HC says it is by behavior while I know it is a major bug.

Well,

We are not using the parent version of Hsphere from Parallel , we have it modified in our way and we are treating Hpshere as we want , we have the customized version of Hsphere which is working great.
