Hi,
as a previous customer of clubuptime i'm in need of a vps
with 1-1.5 GB of ram
managed or unmanaged
30+GB of disk space (that allows for expansion as well)
plenty of bandwidth
no silly restrictions or limits (which i've just discovered with a host i signed up for hastily)
it's for serving php web pages from what was a small customer base (it's getting smaller by the second)
and spam free e-mail (we use ASSP Spam filter)
anyone any suggestions?
thanks
joe

Any preference on location?
Sorry to hear about ClubUptime.

Do you have a budget, managed or un-managed, location, cPanel, anything else?

The OP defiantly made it clear that "managed or unmanaged" service would suffice. Thanks for playing the question game.
Either way take a look at Wired Tree. I've used them in the past and was pleased with the service provided.

Have a look at Knownhost, FutureHosting, and BigBrainHost. I don't think any of them will be as "cheap" as ClubUptime however the peace of mind that you will wake up knowing your sites are up is priceless.

You would still need to provide some deets.
1. What are "silly restrictions"?
2. How much bandwidth?
3. Platform you are looking for if any?
4. Budget or ball park?
5. Any other additional add ons or needs (back ups, etc.)?

I think the biggest question here is what is the price you are willing to pay for the VPS (Budget) information is always going to be essential in such threads unless you want to be shifted left, right, and center between possible providers from low end boxes to mid-high end range systems.
Personally, it really depends on what you'd use the box for (30GB+) of disk-space?
Is that really being used or is it more a safety limit?

EuroVPS, Knownhost, Futurehosting, SolarVPS.
Pick one of those.
Then you'll have a top notch host, with no more problems to worry about.

Joe....you're in the UK so if you wanted a UK location then FutureHosting is by far your best choice. Speedtest HERE!
If location isn't an issue then it's most definitely KnownHost! Speedtest HERE!
You'll probably pay more than you did with CU....but for a reason....they're quality providers that have stood the test of time!

Hi all,
I should have made myself a bit clearer.
Yes I need cpanel.
The 30GB of disk space is more than enough I'm using about 15gb at the moment.
No silly restrictions means I don't want to run into silly proc limits like I have just done (they shut my vps down because I hit 140 processes, as calculated by openvz)
As for technology openvz or xen would do (preferably xen)
I'd like the US, UK or germany (all pretty quick back to the uk)
Thanks joe

Hi Joe,
Get Cloud VPS with around 20GB of diskspace and just upgrade to 40GB of diskspace when needed. A simple reboot of the VM and the extra storage is added.
Definitely stick to UK.
Are you looking to pay Monthly or Yearly (can get much better deal when paying Yearly)? What is your budget?

But that was with a standard Linux VPS, not Cloud VPS, right? And was that UK location? Just you mention USD currency...
WHMCS alone costs around £5-£10/month. cPanel license is £5-£10 ...
