Need FAST VPS Hosting!!!

I run a forum (thediscussioncafe.com) and it's by Invision Power Board. (IPB). Anyways, I want a VPS host that is under $10 per month and that is fast and not laggy. I want at least 10GB of disk space and at least 10 GB of bandwidth per month. Anyone have a good and reliable host? Thanks!

Cheap fast and not laggy does not go too well together. You might want to raise (double) your budget to get decent service.

Under $10 a month? Under $10 a month you can rule out a managed vps and any sort of decent control panel (cpanel).

For your budget it means you would at best get a VERY basic unmanaged VPS. What location do you need hosting (this is important because if you order a VPS in a country thats a long way away from you and most of your site visitors it will be very slow!)

ThrustVPS have VPS's starting from $5.95 a month.

Edit: According to your site, you have 126 members on your forum, any reason you cant use shared hosting for this? I think a VPS would be overkill for your purposes (unless you have configuration specific requirements that are not an option on shared hosting)

I have to agree with this. You are a long way from needing a VPS, and going for an unmanaged, cheap VPS is a recipe for disaster unless you know what you are doing. You are always just 7 keystrokes away from deleting everything on your server, and one click away from losing everything from within your control panel.

You can used a good shared hosting account at around $7 per month and have better resources than you will on a budget VPS. When your forum grows to having hundreds or thousands of users, and 40 - 50 people on line at the same time, then you may need to move to a VPS. But you should go the managed VPS route, and pay from $40 to $50 per month (at today's prices).

Well I suggest you to go with low end vps, )open vz or xen( and then install kloxo or xampp because they are light weight and don't consume much resources.

then you can host your site easily.

I don't think you'll find reliable hosting for $10/mo. Try doubling your budget and you'll find lots of hosts in that range that are very reliable/robust. Most will even guarantee their uptime.

I'd suggest to you Ramhost's Atlanta datacenter plan ATL-2. It covers your needs, at your pricerange, and by my experience is fast (both network and performance). "Fast" is a subjective term, however. Also note they are currently out of stock at the time of this post.

as mentioned by others, shared hosting is sufficient to handle your website well, no point to spend your time to manage the server yourself. You should looking for more reliable host if you need "fast" hosting.

This is a good point. I missed the part about the forum not having a large amount of traffic/activity. If it's still a relatively small forum, I agree with others' recommendations to get shared hosting. There is still great shared hosts out there that can manage the forum.

Do yourself a favour and increase your budget a little. It will save the hassle in the long run. Trust me.

A VPS for $10 a month will be crowded. I'd worry about disk I/O. Spend $20 a month and check out Linode.

Why not just use a shared host like medialayer or something? 10GB bandwidth is barely anything, you shouldn't be on VPS yet..

+1 to that. Maybe a little less. BUT -- you get what you pay for. Every time.
