Which modules do I need for first time setup?

Hey!

I got a new VPS server (with 5 IPs) and the support guy told me that I should send him a list with all the modules (like ioncube, zend optimizer etc.) that I need to get included for the first time because they will setup the VPS.

But they couldnt give me a list of modules I could choose from. Centos5 + Confixx will be installed.

I will use this vps to host around 50 webprojects (wordpress blogs + joomla cms). Domains will be pointed to this VPS.

Could you please suggest me some modules I could mention to include because I actually have NO CLUE which module I actually need or why I need them etc? I just worked with ready made vps setups before.

Thank you!

I wasn't sure what "Confixx" was; looks to be a German-language only control panel by Parallels (like Plesk).

Usually, the control panel will have a default set up that will be sufficient for hosting sites. Ask your host or, if you can read German, see if they mention it at http://www.parallels.com/de/products/confixx/.

Just tell your host about what you're going to do with the server and they should know what's going to be installed.

You can check the 3rd party application requirements and modules required, if ever there is any module you can get it installed on your own. If you have missed anything you can ask them to install it and as Lincxu suggestion you can tell your host about the application that you are going to have as they could help with it.

They're referring to the Apache and PHP modules that will be built or installed on your server.

As you don't have a clue which ones you will need, I'd say telling the host which web applications you're going to run (WordPress, Joomla) would be the best approach.
