Email and Exchange
Hi
I've got a really annoying issue, and the whole thing is just frustrating. I have a dedicated server and host a number of small-medium sized companies emails.
One of my clients is a design agency. In the design agency they have designers on Macs, and account handlers on PCs.
Mac users pull their emails directly from the web server using pop or imap. PC users receive their mail using Exchange. My server isn't running exchange, there's an internal server at the company which connects to my server using POP connector, and then allows the PC users to get their mail in outlook.
The problems are that:
- pop connector cannot check for any new messages in intervals shorter than 15 minutes
- pc users send out mail to mac users, the mac users don't receive it.
They dont use exchange calendars so I cannot see why they can't just set up the PC users to pull mail using IMAP instead of using exchange?
I am going to propose this to them as I am sick of getting it in the neck every time they have problems with this stupid setup!!!
Any advice or views on this?
THanks
Ste

Change your server to exchange then all the PC and MAC users can just go straight to your server? No need for them other servers that look to be causing all of the issues.

My advice ... if the customers wants it figure out how to provide it . They may be stubborn although your solution seems reasonable.
