Hi Readers,
This is a review of two virtual servers I purchased from VPSUnlimited.COM
The VPS are located in Kansas ( Whole Sale Internet ) and Los Angeles ( Quadranet). I ordered a 768MB VPS in Kansas and the 1GB VPS in L.A.
My first thought of these VPS is 'wow'. Both run fairly high end kit and have SolusVM as a VPS control panel. Now, In the past i've had a lot of trouble with SolusVM and less than great setups of it. That being said, The control panel at VPSUnlimited works just fine and functions as it should.
Within minutes of logging into the L.A. server I can tell its not oversold/laggy or anything else that pisses me off. I run a pretty demanding PHP/SQL app that usually doesnt stand up to the run-of-the-mill OpenVZ provider. VPSUnlimited uses XEN on at both thier DC's.
The Kansas server has comparable latency but downloads are a bit slower. It also runs my system demanding PHP app. Both handle it quite nicely with CPU/Ram to spare.
The Linux install (I got centos) is very good and minimal. Very secure, and fast starting environment.
As for speed im able to get the full 12MB from the L.A DC and about 5-6MB from Kansas. As of writing:
2011-06-18 23:43:45 (9.97 MB/s) - `100mb.test' saved [104857600/104857600]
^ LA
2011-06-19 06:45:27 (3.53 MB/s) - `100mb.test' saved [104857600/104857600]
^ Kansas
The LA node also appears to have very nice routing to Asia.
All in all, I am most satisfied with the service and servers provided to me. I pay roughly $15 and $20 for the servers. At this price you cant really argue with it.
I suggest you all give them a ring and try out a server.
Thanks for reading,
James
