    Hello,

Forgot to say that it is to replace a $15/y BuyVM VPS in CA.
By the way, is it possible to resell the BuyVM one as there is none available ?

I don't like their Refund Policy:

    - All payments to AlienVPS are non-refundable. Thus once your payment is confirmed we offer no refunds. Their is no exceptions and you agree to our no-refund policy.

That makes a review even more useful.

Well, refund on a few bucks does not interest me much, it is all about CPU, IO and Network usability

Not many VPS providers offer refunds. Usually refunds are available for Shared hosting services only.

How can you factor in VAT when comparing since you are subject to VAT on everything? Obviously purchases made outside the EU are not going to be collected with VAT, but are you not still responsible to pay it on your own? - Tim Flavin from "Hostigation.com"

I recently purchased their "VZ Abduction" plan for 19 USD/year. I'm not looking for anything more then a testing platform. Who knows if I end up liking AlienVPS I may use them for more in the future.

I dont really have much to offer in form of a review. However, I can tell you how it has gone so far. The sign-up and VPS setup was painless. Which is to be expected. All pre-sale questions were answered via the live chat function. The live chat representative was knowledgeable and freindly. I submitted one ticket which was answered in about an hour.

In the end, you get what you pay for.

Well just to get a better idea; here is what I get.

    OpenVZ (New York) - Abduction

    An hour later I got:

Doesn't all this dd testing just measure write speed? Wouldn't read speed be more interesting for most webhosting purposes? Or do the two factors correlate?

Yeah, it's just a write test. Most providers use either RAID 1 or RAID 10, so their read speeds will be higher than their write speeds.

    Anyone on node lv8?

Just signed up for an UFO5 VPS for personal use like an hour (1) ago and seems like someone kept rebooting my VPS or the physical node. Happened twice already... no ticket reply on what's going on. :/

They were upgrading HW. Apparently someone went through the same exact thing I just went through in other post thread.

Just wished they gave out better notices instead of none. I was in middle of configuring OS+apps... everything seems back to normal now. I'm ok with it.

in my mind, buyvm is better (sorry alien)

and very strange, my vps xen 2gb change from 100gb to 35gb .

    Hello,

I agree, BuyVM is rather good and maybe better than Alien.
However, my visitors are in France and the latency from FR to Fremont (or LA) is huge compared to NY or Chicago (I have Vazapi here) so I want to change

    Thumbs up

I have a vegas UFO3 vps that I use for my small gaming clan..and run teamspeak3, cod4 and a gaming site..with no problems at all.. My friends connect at decent fps and teamspeak is rock solid. I did add cpanel and softaculous to my account and I am very happy how everything works! I live in Vegas...so pings/xfers are fantastic!

To answer everyone's questions about our refund policy...Due to high levels of misuse we were forced to implement this policy. In the budget VPS market you often get customers that signup for 24-48 hours, SPAM, Phish, or do other harmful things and then ask for a refund, then bounce to another provider and do the same thing.

We do on rare occasions issue refunds to users within the first 5 days of service if they experience technical issues that we are unable to resolve. Whether we issue a refund or not is solely at our discretion. It's not an official written policy however in certain situations refunds do occur.

Anyone on the NY1 node that is experiencing low disk IO may submit a ticket requesting a node transfer. If adequate server resources are available at the time of your request we will move you to an alternate NY node with higher disk IO.
