Upgrading my server
Currently my windows dedicated machine has
Processor: Intel i5-750 Quad Core
But lately.. MS SQl Server has been using lots of CPU.. at any given time MS SQL is using 90% + of the CPU .. thus was thinking of upgrading my server (upgrading the processor infact).. and going for 2x faster processor
My hosting suggested me to go for
Processor: Intel Dual Xeon E5620 Quad Core (Westmere)
Do u think the suggested processor is twice as fast ???
Can u suggest me better processor which i shud considerSuraj Jain (ASP - Developer)

It is a lot better to optimize your scripts better than upgrading your processor. I'm not too sure what is causing the load but I do think that i5 is quite a good processor and there shouldn't be such loads over there if you optimize everything correctly.
By the way, MSSQL rarely takes much CPU even though my client's DB is almost about 890MB. The queries are nicely done and etc.Aaron Ong

As Aaron suggested, optimizing your DB should be your first step. If you have already done that, then consider upgrading. Dual 5620 is a great processor and much faster than i5.
