    * TOP 10 BEST AND WORST WEB HOSTS OF 2011

    Dear friends,

For the purpose of my personal use for a research and with the intention of this post also being useful to others. I request your help in sharing your experience and impression about various web hosts in the market today. You are able to list as many as web hosts in a numeric manner which either fall into the best or worst category according to your wish. Your also welcomed to give the reasons for your choice. The ultimate result would be processed by comparing and analyzing the post and replies of other users.

Things to consider about the host:
    *Price
    *Quality of service
    *Customer service
    *Up time
*Room to grow (various plans and hosting services)
    *Eco friendliness (green)
    *Customer satisfaction
    *Offers
    *Brand image
    *Industrial background and history
    *and etc

Please refrain from affliating or publicizing web host comapnies. Thank you in advance for your kind support

    Uzi

I think any decent and not really small web host has different reviews. And if even you start 2 different tops for bet and worst companies they cold be the same lists with the same companies.

I believe all companies have both bad and good reviews, that's quite natural.

Exactly. And everyone will have a different experience with a host as each person has different requirements, budget and expectations.

It will be hard to define the "worst". No one would allow you to put them there

Not the best idea for a thread. Almost every hosting company that has been in business for a while has both positive and negative reviews.

You may find some bad service but hard to say it's the worst on earth. I think there's no much value to get such list, you just need to get a quality service to support your website.

I think it all comes down to personal circumstances. You will have one person have a fantastic experience with a certain company and then another will have an awful experience.

    WORST ON EARTH?

I have a candidate Vision Web Hosting (Delaware)

They offered to get a new domain and setup a web server in 24 hours, what is reasonable as many hosting companies can do it. After three days and nothing happening I cancelled my request and acquired the domain myself which is now hosted at Bluehost, a favorite of mine.

Vision Web hosting has a "support" page which is nothing but a mail form which you can write in and nobody cares, nobody reads the mails and of course nobody answers them. After tens of tries I could get someone on the phone and asked for a $73 refund and they said they would do it. 10 days later and many attempts of email, phone and the perpetual offline chat system, I sent a complaint to Delawares BBB and they have not responded to it.

Two days ago they again charged my CC with $40. I could as a miracle get a hold of one of their support people through the online chat. He said they had already refunded the first charge (which is not true) and that they would refund the second charge today (which I doubt).

Stay away from Vision Web Hosting from Delaware. It is a SCAM!!!

Agreed.. No hosting company is marks up to 100% to their customers expections.. some are good in cutomer support but fails in server performance... some customers complaints with speed.... some with conflicts...

It's up to the customer who tries to get a stable host and believes in the host to serve for max time..... "

This is quite pointless. Only viable way to rank them is to quantify their services into some sort of number. But everyone has different standard to start with.

It would be possible to categorize 'good / decent / bad', still, this is pointless.

I don't like making yearly lists when the year isn't even half over. But anyways, I agree with all of the above. There are just too many people with too many different expectations. My most reliable host could be your most hated host. We all have different experiences.

YES YES Yes, the worst of all

All is true, some are good, some are bad, but don't even try Vision Web Hosting from Delaware. You are talking to them live and they are plain lying to you and stealing your money.

I do not think there exists a host with 100% positive feedbacks and therefore, I cannot conclude which one is the best host nowadays!

I have worked wit bluehost for years and they are great. I thought I would give a chance to Vision Web Hosting as they seemed to offer some things bluehost could not offer, but that was my mistake, they are a bunch of scamers.

yeah right! Every company claims to be the best in their field but it's still up to their customers if they're satisfied or not. That's where the reviews comes out!

Weird post. What is "best host"? As for me - it is a host that suites me the best, but what is good for me, may be of zero use to others. One may praise overselling, another one - bash it; one may praise lack of support (there was some host with zero support, but they did state it), another would praise full support (phine-email-chat-ticket). One would praise servers in the US and the other - servers in "grey zone" where you can host anything from Wikileaks to porn. And which one would be the best? Same with worst. I do recall my experience with Site5. Other people were almost screaming about problems and downtime...and I managed to live in safety.
Top hosts can be found easily while searching WHT, in my opinion...

A huge host who hosts millions of websites with thousands of bad reviews is no worse than a small host who hosts a hundred websites and has a few bad reviews.
Hosting is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

Since this has gone absolutely nowhere, I see little point in leaving it open for more randomness.
