    * Softlayer' joke about large amount of traffic

    2011-Jun-14 16:52 (GMT-0600) [Update 1]

This ticket was automatically generated by the Softlayer Network Protection
System. Due to the large amount of traffic targeted to your IP address
50.23.163.6x, SoftLayer has automatically injected a null route for the IP
address into our network. This null route automatically tells our carriers to
drop all traffic destined to the IP address 50.23.163.66 at the edge of their
networks. The null route of 50.23.163.66 will remain in place for 24 hours and
traffic levels to this IP address will be retested.

    Details of the event follow:

    Exceeded Bits In: 98 k (Threshold: )
    Exceeded Packets In: 238.9 - (Threshold: )
    Exceeded Packets Out: 2.3 k (Threshold: )
    Exceeded Flows In: 170.7 - (Threshold: )
    Exceeded Flows Out: 1.9 k (Threshold: )

So 98 kBits = large amount of traffic , this is really crazy

The wording on that would seem to imply that you exceeded the threshold (that seems to be omitted from the report?) by the specified amount.

For example, if the threshold is 500mbps and you use 500.098mbps, then you would have exceeded the threshold by 98kbps.

Follow up with a ticket to Softlayer -- they can clarify what the threshold values are, and fix them if they were incorrectly set low.

Yes, contacted with 100TB.com, and they said
Please see the logs provided by the SL on this, and please note that we do not
have direct control over these. Thank you for your kind understanding.
