If you are looking to learn so you can design for others, those days are pretty much over. The market is too saturated. If you have a business I suggest hiring someone as they will not only understand how to design a website they should know how to get results. If you are simply wanting a family / personal site most hosting companies provide a free site builder. As to the logo just pay a designer to whip something up for you quickly.
If you still want to learn sites like
www.w3schools.org
and
www.tutorialized.com
are good sites
all the best!

You can even go with a paid template and try using like Dreamweaver to edit the layout, But Dreamweaver is limited to newbies. You can only do so much if your starting out, more advanced websites require advanced script, dreavewaver is great for editing BASIC HTML note some templates are designed so newbies cant edit.
Wish you the best of luck.Last edited by comswww; 06-15-2011 at 06:20 AM.

Youtube has plenty of vids on how build a website.
For a newbie, I'd suggest you try using one of the simpler scripts, like Wordpress or Blogspot.

Try using a WYSIWYG editor (there are many free ones available) Some come with suitable templates and you can take them apart and see the code at the same time.
Here are some that are free:

I'd look around here for people selling designs as well, you can find some diamonds in the rough.

I would have to agree with Zoom Active. I've come across so many people who want to do a cheap site for their company, using site builders and the like, and are completely dissatisfied with the results. Not to be cliche, but you get what you pay for. If you care about your company or business, you'll invest in a designer or design company to create a professional site for you.

I know as a consumer if I'm looking at a website that does not look clean & professional I wouldn't want to shop there. It would be the example of walking into a clothing store and picking up what you want off the floor...just doesn't look good for business.
Especially on the internet where the first thing a consumer sees is the home page. At least in a store a person can come over to you and change how you feel ... online it's your eyes and the content.

Ninak, Techy, – Thanks!!
Comswww – I Don’t know what fan based means.. It is on Stable Host.. My daughters friend designed the site for a school project but it is very BLAN!! Looks very outdated.. So I want to change it to something more modern. She did Dreamweaver CS4 & CS5 Uploading it as FTP Server . It is just a small business with about 9 pages.
Wafflehorse – True.. Just rolling out, I just don’t have $1000.00 to dish out for a website..

Anyone here used Wysiwyg Web Builder by Pablo? I built a site long ago using Front Page. Can't afford Dreamweaver. I'm not going into the business of buiding websites but want one easy to build and change myself.
