Might be easier to just run it on Windows, but there is mono.

Well what I want to achieve is I have a client who is currently on a cpanel shared hosting account and now he wants asp support on his account so he can run a script but he also has exsisting php scripts so instead of having to move him to a windows server and then figure out how to get php working I thought I might be able to just load asp .net support on the server he is currently on

mono is your only choice here. But I don't really know what to even tell your client. Linux and Windows don't really go that well together. So mixing and matching PHP with ASP is kinda a no-no in the hosting industry as well. I'd most probably ask him to reconsider and perhaps get someone to recode it in PHP.

Or just use windows where php, asp, asp.net and even ruby work well

Windows would definitely be your best bet. I've had nothing but trouble trying to get a Linux host to play nicely with ASP. Especially when you consider how easy it is to enable an ASP application in a Windows environment.
