    Talking I'm learning web design

    Any tips http://www.freewebhostingdesigns.com/1.jpg ?

    I'm no good at graphic design so want to use css/html as much as possible, at least to start with anyway ...

    not bad if you're new.

    don't like the fact it's too "boxy/pointy"

    and the colors are...eh lol

    Just a tidbit that I often look at, and even use is colourlovers.com they have an awesome color generator/mixed that's called ColorSchemer Studio, and its awesome

    I think one of the most overlooked aspects of designs are the fonts.

    Try using web fonts -- they can really improve web designs (if used properly).

    That layout is pretty good. Some media or motion gfx on the layout would spice things up.

    If you do add motion Gfx try to stay away from flash.
