Reseller has gone AWOL, server now offline, what to do?
I'm a new member here and was hoping the experts could offer some advice. We're in a real bind and your feedback is appreciated!
We have rented a dedicated server from a reseller that has gone AWOL over the last 4 weeks. They literally disappeared and don't respond to emails, IMs or phone calls. We've been pre-paying in 6 months increments. The reseller lives in the UK and we're in the USA, making contact even harder.
Our server went down and we located the host the reseller was working with, Burst.net. They confirmed our server is with them. Burst.net seems to be a solid, reputable company and we have been pleased with the actual hosting over the last 12 months.
However, Burst.net is declining to help in this situation and are telling us to continue to try to contact the reseller, which is pointless and in any case has been unsuccessful for the last 4 weeks. My guess is that the reseller owes Burst.net money and that they took all of the resllers' servers (including ours) offline as a result.
