    good name for a webhost

    Hi All,

I am looking for a good name for starting a webhosting business.

    Can you suggest names

Also is the .com the best option.

Which kind of names are best fro seo and marketing?

Name suggesting would not work: easy enough to buy that name untill you noticed
Names can be very different. Most of them have "host". There are HostGator, Downtownhost or such self-advertising names like Totalchoicehosting or Seo-hosting. There may be some like Site5 or SemoWeb. The point is, if you grow up a company's reputation any name would be good.
Yet another point may be your target. If you rent servers, you may wish to use that. If your customer is from, say, Japan, you may want to use something close to Japanese culture. Or you even may want to target poodle fans and call "poodlehosting".
Sorry for not-so-informative topic, but these werew the only ideas.
NB for the moderators: hosts listed in random order - some known to me, some names taken from WHT topics.

I agree with the above post. And anytime this question comes up, I always bring up GoDaddy.com .. I mean, really? Who would have thought a company named "Go Daddy" would be successful?

So don't worry too much about the name, and focus on selling your product and growing your company name.

Usually a .com domain is the best option as most people know mainly .com or their ccTLD. But for webhosting and internet related websites a .net domain also fits well.

A name for your company is not that important, it is more important to build a brand around that name

Name it whatever you want. There are many people who name their businesses after themselves. It's not the name of the company that's important, it's the reputation behind it.

You need to come up with a name that relates to the niche you are targeting. I would say for most hosts having the like of "host", "hosting", "web", "servers" etc. in your name makes sense. Not all companies have deep pockets to develop brands around a name that is completely unrelated to hosting such as Godaddy

What ever you decide, just make sure you do not use an animal name! lol we have enough of those on here already. On a more serious note, try to come up with something professional, short and to the point.

If you do come with a good name and the business takes off don't forget to register the other extensions .net, .info, .org etc to protect the name.

Country specific domains are also a good choice if your target audience is generally based there like the .co.uk for the UK market.

All the good names I had in mind are taken by people.

Maybe I have to go for an alien name now

something ending in web looks a better choice

    myweb or something

its your company after all, you will have your own ideas about the company...
I think you should decide it yourself..
Also a .com domain will be the best ..

Most names will do but I think picking a memorable and easy one is key. Don't go too crazy with the spelling or pronunciation.

  16. I suggest you to book domain with .com domain this is a best option

Personally I think "Hosting" is too generic, why not add something thrilling into the name rather than use the same "Host" term that most other providers use.

For me I just do not see why "Host" needs to be added into the pot, but that is my honest opinion.
