    Setting up Colo/Dedi business

    Hi,
A big boss in a telecom company is a friend of mine. I've convinced him to lease unused empty space (20,000 sq f) in their data center for me to start a hosting business (Colo/Dedicated only & unmanaged only).

So, I'm building a business plan for the project. So far, I decided on the following:
1- I found good supplier for racks (haven't decided on price/type)
2- Most likely will go with Supermicro for servers (IPMI/KVM over IP).
3- Most likely will use Cisco for VLAN management for each rack not sure about benefits of L3 vs L2)
4- Only offer CentOS/Ubuntu for dedicated.
5- Will sign as cPanel/WHM reseller to be able to offer to customers.

Now, I'm left with the decision for the kind of Order Management software to use for online ordering/provisioning/billing/ticketing & support.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Cheers,
    Abdul

WHMCS would be the ideal system for your requirement.

    Hi Prashant,
Thanks for the advice, I believe WHCMS is more a billig/ticketing system. I haven't used it myself thu. Will try to get trial.

Whmcs can be used with modifications, but most dedicated/Colo would use ubersmith which is more targeted for this.

    Thanks Henry

Does WHCMS provide mechanism to provision the switch to certain customer requirement (VLAN/extra IPs/etc) for any particular customer need?

Depending on the cost and your budgets, something like NOCWorx (http://www.nocworx.com/) might be worth a look.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks Pete, I looked at ubersmith, it doesn't seem to have the ability to do provisioning and infrastructure management.

Hi Jon, NOCWorx is very interesting software.

Either ubersmith or nocworx would be best for colo/dedi if you contact either, I am sure they will set up test accounts so you can see how they work.

Thanks Kevin, I also found another one called DSManage, the problem it has many modules. I guess ubersmith/nocworx would be my best bet.

For now, I only can Recommend you WHMCS.
I've been using it before and until now. It's very good software for client management.
