Need Helping chosing dedi provider
Here's what I need.. USA only. Will be using for vps..
Dual Processor Quad Core Xeon
Memory 48 GB RAM
4 x 1 tb of storage or 1tb iSCSI File Storage SAN
At least 10tb of bandwidth
Here's a few providers I see that matches my requirements
Webnx
ServerDeals
Hivolocity
NetDepot - This is my pick so far but from WHT everyone has a love hate relationship with them. But their server specs give me what I'm asking for and their network seems good.
So should I stay away from those providers listed above?? Any other suggestions on providers based on my specs??

As dedicated providers are not allowed to advertise to users, you should look at the dedicated offers here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=36

with your budget, you can easily find a provider. Among the providers you have mentioned, i have used WebNX in the past, and using hivelocity and netdepot. I would pick hivelocity as my first choice and then take webnx as the second preference. I have a little mixed feelings about Netdepot.

We have machines with Netdepot and they all run well, I can't say anything bad about them. One thing to note about them is I don't think they have configurations that support above 24gb ram. There is also a fee per DMCA which can be a deterrent depending on what the server will be used for. Take a look at Colo@/TSS as well to see if they can do a custom configuration for you.
Softlayer is good as well and should be within your budget.AYKsolutions.com - High Bandwidth Specialists - 10Gbps/20Gbps+ Unmetered & DDOS Protected

any host should be able to give you the specs you are looking for! also everyone is going to have several different thoughts about the same provider good and bad you are just going to have to go thru and research the company you may want.

I would agree with this. I would think the hardest part is simply finding a provider who is willing to stock that kind of hardware, but the budget is certainly enough for what you're looking for. Are there any other requirements that could be used to narrow this down, like how many ips can come with the machine, or anything like that?

I would say the hardest part is going to be finding a server provider with a server using 48GB in stock most i have seen is 32GB

I would have agreed with that a few months ago when 4gb ram sticks made the most sense. It's difficult to find a dual socket board with more than 6 ram slots that will fit properly in a normal case. Even buying cases that were supposed to fit our 18 ram-slot boards, it turns out they didn't, so we've been burned in the past.
In any case, with 8gb ecc registered ram sticks becoming reasonably priced, you shouldn't have much problem fitting 48gb into a more typical 6 ram-slot dual socket board, as those boards will also fit properly into a much wider variety of cases.IOFLOOD.com -- We Love Servers

I'm going to need at least 40 ips for the system.. Was looking into hivelocity but they charge 2.50 per ip over 5 ips now.. .. The major issue I'm having is when I find a provider that I can get 48+ GB of ram the storage specs don't fit my needs.. And when I find both the price is way over.. So still searching.....

For the budget you've got I'm surprised you haven't found someone willing to do this for you. 48 ips is a lot, but not really when considering this is a VPS node with this much ram. I wouldn't compromise on the storage because 4 SATA disks is already not a ton for 48gb ram worth of VPS customers. In my experience running VPS's (and I'm sure others will disagree with me, but this is my experience), we had initially thought we needed 4x1tb raid 10 for each 16gb ram worth of customers, but have since found that the i/o utilization on those is around 20, 25%, so we could easily do 32gb ram (if you offer a minimum vps size of 1gb ram) with the 4 disk array, but 48gb is probably pushing it. I would try to go for at least 6x1tb sata drives on a 48gb machine.
Either way, it looks like a reasonable budget for the requirements. Is there any particular location in the US that you would prefer?IOFLOOD.com -- We Love Servers

ah, ok, that makes sense. For what it's worth, you can almost always get more disk performance per dollar by just adding more disks to your server than by going with a SAN, as the SAN adds a number of layers of cost and complexity, and if the SAN hasn't been built for redundancy, then you've got an increased chance of failure as well. If the SAN *has* been built for redundancy, then that pushes the cost up even further, just to get to the same level of reliability you'd see on a much cheaper on-node storage solution.
