website loading issue
Is this website loading for you: www.andrewmclaughlan.com ?
This is my website, my browsers seems to find the site but it just sits there trying to load. I contacted my hosting provider who says its loading fine for him. My ip has not been blocked by them as I think they checked that.
What could be the issue here?

Your site loads fine here. Did you try to traceroute your website's IP? Maybe packets are lost or possibly there's a routing issue.

This is very strange I don't see why I cant load the site yet others can.

@andy91
I have experienced this before. This sometimes happens when lfd adds you to the blocklist. Have your host whitelist your IP and this may solve your problem.█ Honey Bear Host

The hosting company got back to me :
We have checked the server and found that all the services are running, also the website www.andrewmclaughlan.com is working without any issues.
There is no ip blocked, we have also restarted the firewall.
The problem must be my end but what could be causing this?

Do you have a dynamic IP at home? Try to restart your router and see if you can get can go to the website after you obtain a new IP.
AFAIK, CSF/LFD will not show the IP bans in the iptable output, might be a hosts.deny or csf.deny ( Assuming your hosting provider uses them ). Does't hurt to try

andy91, Virgin Media are having routing/peering issues currently, which means they cannot route you to your web host properly - or if at all. We've found that many Virgin Media users go through Virgin's "webcache" system which also appears to be broken this evening too.
Don't worry, it's not just you or your web host that's suffering. Take a look at the Virgin Media forums - you'll find plenty (perhaps too many!) of complaints about this issue.
Hope this helps!» Xagga Hosting - extra-value UK-based web host

Hmm the funny thing is when I disconnected my router and connected directly to the internet it seemed to load the website fine. Making me think it was the router
Iv reset all my router settings and disabled everything that could be blocking site but its still doing it and I don't think the router would just randomly block that ip address.
Could the router have any effect on this virginmedia issue?

andy91,
You would've been temporarily routed through a different gateway in Virgin's network. It will probably be the case that access to your site (amongst others) is intermittent whilst Virgin Media sort out their fault.» Xagga Hosting - extra-value UK-based web host

You're welcome
This isn't the first time such an issue has hit Virgin Media. Last time it was fixed within 24 hours so keep your fingers crossed» Xagga Hosting - extra-value UK-based web host

Yes, this is an issue with VirginMedia ISP. You can load your site via proxy like www.hidemyass.com to see the site is loading fine for everyone else.
It is just an issue for some VirginMedia users.Last edited by HostXNow; 06-03-2011 at 05:36 PM. Reason: typo
