    Business Relaunch

    Hi,

I am planning on relaunching my hosting business after several years out of the area, so i am doing my research to see what has changed.

I am looking for pointers on how to improve the website, i have upload a rough outline of the homepage as a preview:

    http://www.terrabithost.co.uk

The site slightly outdated as no longer plan to offer dedicated servers nor reseller, i want to focus on vps and shared for now.

I plan on using WHMCS to manage the customers, plesk 10 as the control panel for shared and solusvm for the vps control panel.

Any tips on anything major that has changed since 2009 would be handy, but as mentioned above i am doing my research to make sure everything is covered.

I plan on a launch in late July or middle August depending on how things go.

When it comes to support i plan on Ticket and Livehelp support between 9.30am and 6pm GMT, and emergency tickets out of these hours.

So any opinions or guidance would be great!

    Thanks!

Compared to 2009, more web hosts seem to offer Cpanel compared to Plesk.

I always found cPanel to be the more popular control panel, but i feel Plesk is just as good and much better value for money.

Ive always been a Plesk fan

I agree with this. It is not what you like, but what your customers want!
If they have to learn a new control panel, they might not like to change over you.

This is true, however, the competition is also greater. I don't know what the market is like for Plesk hosting, but like shared hosts offering DirectAdmin, perhaps there's a niche opportunity as a host specifically offering Plesk.

Though, while a lot of people do prefer DirectAdmin over cPanel, I'm not sure if I can say the same for Plesk. If you do want to offer Plesk, make sure you do your research as it could end up hurting your sales.

Also keep in mind that most people are already using cPanel so anticipate spending extra effort migrating them over to Plesk.

The site design looks nice easy to read/understand what you are offering and navigate. In terms of web hosting control panel userver hit the nail on the head with the statement "It is not what you like, but what your customers want!". Personally we have found most clients to be more familiar and or just more comfortable with navigating/using Cpanel which is why we use it more then Plesk.

The only real advice I could offer is that you should try to make it as easy as possible for your clients to access/view things like support tickets, billing info, and setup/access email accounts. So for example customizing your plesk or Cpanel to have a link to your whmcs client area for example so that clients don't have to login to their billing area and then have to login again separately if they want to access their cpanel/hosting control panel for example. Your customers will benefit, thus you will benefit by higher customer retention when/if you are able to provide a easy, unified access system for a person to be able to access all the typical functions they use (setup/manage email accounts, view/pay bills, etc)

Good luck on your re-launch of your hosting company

cpanel is a more prefered panel so i would suggest that

also from a admin side of things i hate live zilla. + their logo's look really cheap i suggest you greate some uniquie ones that go with your layout

but it does look rather nice

Why plesk? omg I would pick Plesk after having like 3 Cpanels full of clients, not because the software is bad its because their support.

WHMCS is a good choice! What live-chat do you plan to deploy?

I plan on using livezilla for the live support, i am working on a skin for it at the moment, as the one that comes buddled with the program looks rubbish.

Thats a good idea have the whmcs link inside plesk, i shall look into this as i know it could be done with previous ones.

I may change to cpanel once i get enough customers to cover the fees, for now im going in easy and im going to expand/chage as time goes on.

I don't wanna go all out and then become out of pocket and have wated both my time and money.
