Question

Hetzner/WiredTree: which one should I choose?

After reading up a lot of discussion posts on WHT and after some independent 'research', I've zeroed upon the following two hosting options, one of which that I'd want to buy:

http://www.wiredtree.com/managedhybrid/ - Hybrid Server
http://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/pro...rootserver/eq4 - Dedicated Server

I'd want some of you to please take a look at their features and specifications and help me decide. My constraints/needs are:

1. I have almost nill technical knowledge of root-based server management and have only worked with Shared hosting environment. Would always need a web front end to manage websites/applications.

2. I plan to run at least five to seven websites, with most of them being Wordpress based, but a couple of them being custom application based that would act like a forum-cum-rating/review website.

3. While the WiredTree Hybrid Server seems to be good enough and it's managed as well, the Hetzner one offers more resources for almost the same price. Is there something I'm missing and might prove to be a problem for me in future since I'm not an expert? e.g. are there some extra components that I might need to order due to my lack of technical expertise?

4. Any personal experience/feedback on either of the above two server plans?

Hello,

+1 for Hetzner. Rock solid network with zero down time.

Go with a managed host and save yourself the trouble and headaches of managing a server. On wiredtree you will get a setup Hybrid like you used to have on shared accounts. You just login start uploading your site and get started. In hetzner you will get root access and just the OS will be loaded, you would have to install apache, php and sql and then optimize them etc etc. If you have no clue about the technical aspect go with managed

Since you're looking for dedicated hosting, I would suggest you check with the famous ISPs who have super stable network and quality customer support. It would be a pain if the server not working and no support to check around..

Does location not matter at all? Seems strange to me how these 2 would be compared when one's in Chicago, USA and other in Germany.

Anyways, as others have said, if you don't have experience managing a server and aren't willing to learn, go with a managed host.
