Hosting 2 websites on 1 IP and 1 dedicated server, hurts rankings?

    Hey.

I am thinking of hosting another site on my dedicated server, but as I got only 1 IP address, 2 websites would be sharing the same IP address.

Is it bad for search engine rankings, or search engine indexing your site? What problems could it cause?

    Thanks.

I would say that no this would not cause any issues. Unless you're doing link farms or something like that, I wouldn't think the IP address would be taken into much consideration, if at all. The location of your IP might help your rankings in different countries though, so depending if you have a target audience or not

By purchasing another IP and using 1 dedicated server, would that be better choice though?

As I understand it, Google doesn't penalize sites for shared hosting.
Hosting is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

Absolutely zero issues unless you are trying to run spam link farms.

    Absolutely !
IP doesn't matter in this case. I run 8 blogs in same dedi .. All appear in 1st page on google ranking and I have single IP !!

No provider should provide you with an additional IP for additional sites. You need to use shared IPs.

Certainly not in terms of SER for that particular site.

No. We're quickly running out of ip space, so this is just blatantly wasteful. It won't help you any, and it hurts the internet as a whole.
