    [Help]Disk over usage?

    I have been getting really annoyed by the disk over usage even though I am only using 50% of the space. I tried contacting the host he suggested to delete some files but it doesnt help. At the moment the whole disk usage thing is just running over my head I cant do any thing on my site. Really getting annoyed by this. Does any one know how to fix it? The problem is there is a gap of 400MB which seems to missing. It aint used by any folder or anything just missing. See the screenshot below;

    That missing can be stored in cPanel's trash bin, in your logs, in emails, etc. Have you checked all of those places?

    Are you getting emails from cPanel saying Over usage or are you not able to upload files?

    And don't just check your in-boxes when checking mail. I had a client who always used web mail, and while she did a great job of deleting messages, she never emptied the trash bin. I could not believe how much was in the trash file (well over 100megs).

    Your host should have fixed this for you already. They're obviously not very good. Just my opinion.

    Your provider should be able to address the current directories that are consuming up so much "diskspace" for you, they can even tell you which e-mail accounts are of concern to disk usage, there are ways to view these yourself but ultimately your provider should be assisting you in having this done, if nothing could be done then sure an upgrade might be required at the last resort.

    Not sure why your provider is not assisting in this manner but sounds like a louzy provider to whom has little representation to the matter.

    I don't use email provided by the server I use google apps. But I do have two email accounts which I can't delete at the moment due to the space issue. Is there a way to delete them manually?

    My host is actually a person I know personally he can't do anything cause his Internet connection isn't working ask me to wait until Monday afternoon. If he can't find the issue he'll upgrade the space. But I can't seem to figure out the reason for not showing the accurate values.

    Have you checked the "Disk Space Usage" page in your cPanel? It will give you a list of breakdown on the amount of space each directory is using.

    You can't just judge it right away until you hear from the host about the problem.

    True. But as Sean said it does seem like they're just being a bit lazy. We'll know soon enough.

    Agreed! I would try all of the advice above and then see what happens. If your host cant tell you where your space is being used, then they dont know what they are doing...

    Contact your host. If they can't help... well, then it should be obvious what you should do next

    The host fixed it. It was Wordpress, it seems like Wordpress was generating a huge error log file which was around 800MB after I deleted it the problem is okay now. Thanks for all your help. Appreciate it.
