    Talking Ubuntu 11.04 is Awesome!

Recently I switched from Windows 7 to Ubuntu 11.04, and I got to say. I am loving it.

Everything seems much faster and smooth with Ubuntu compared to Windows and I can not imagine myself moving back to Windows.

The disadvantage is that WinSCP is not supported and Photoshop isn't but that is the cost of using Ubuntu.

Have any of you tried out 11.04, and what are your experiences? I love it!

I personally believe Ubuntu in all it's forms is evil. That being said I do have it on my eee 900a so that I can see if I can get Juniper Network connect going.

    Hello,

My laptop is having dualboot, Windows and Ubuntu. Ubuntu is super fast when compared to Windows. I loves Ubuntu.

You should not be using WinSCP anymore, as scp/ssh/sftp (part of openssh) is included in Ubuntu already.

If you really need a GUI for copying files, I'm sure Nautilus or equivalent should do the job perfectly.

You guys are happy because it is a linux flavour and the other thing is that we can ride them with command line interface.

    Cheers

I've been using dual boot for about 5 years now... But linux (any flavor) doesn't seem to suit good enough for games. ;-)

    One of the downsides.

But a lot of games are coming out with Mac/Linux support. Not to mention Steam recently added a mac section for their games. So maybe with a bit of luck more games will come with native Linux support. And of course a Linux steam section.

I prefer fedora with KDE. The GNOME3 and unity is just a silly interface to me. Made for a cellphone and not a desktop. Unprofessional looking.

It's good, but for people who have used to windows there's still a lot to learn.

Same here, I hate the new interface and I doubt I'll get used to it. I'm back to using the classic one on my laptop.

I hate the new interface too... Almost like they're trying to make it a giant tablet with "Apps"

I agree. I have it on a netbook and it runs great. Problem is that they decided to go with quick launch buttons on the left side of the screen. When theydid this nearly every 10inch screen that is set at 1024 res are now having to scroll left and right on websites :/

Same here, the new interface is disgusting and I feel it's even worse when you have more than 1 monitor. I used it on my notebook but on my desktop I switched to classic within a few hours - I simply couldn't adjust and don't intend to.

In the long run I may end up going to fedora to stick with the gui, although even the newer version of gnome is quite a bit different but atleast it's not as big a jump as to unity.
