Anti Virus for a new laptop...
Hi guys,
I've recently started a new job in London, but I commute every day. I have decided to get a new laptop, its brilliant - Work said they would 'try' to supply me with an AntiVirus. However, they've changed their minds and I am now left without one.
I didn't get one from the shop I got the laptop from as the bafoons that run the shop struggle to find the on/off button...
So, what free anti-viruses are there?
This laptop will be mainly for PHP and MySQL coding during my commute as I spend around 3~ hours on the coach.
I look forward to reading your comments.█ Garbott Ltd - Exceptional web development, hosting & consultancy services

We use Avira for Business. They also offer a free version called Avira Personal. They're great!

As long as you're not going to surf to any dodgy sites you can get away with any decent free software- Avira, Avast, Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG free etc.

Norton, Norton, Norton. it's not free, but it's 100% worth the cost
If you absolutely insist on free, go with Microsoft Security Essentials, but remember, you get what you pay for.Tom Whiting, WHMCS Guru extraordinaire

I've been using Avast (http://avast.com) for about 2 year's now and had no problems with it. They have options for PC and Mac. I would highly recommend them too you! The free version works great for me; but if you were ever too need more protection they offer cheap plans to upgrade! Best of luck!

I use AVG Free. I love it, and have it installed on 5 different computers, and as long as you keep it up-to-date you shouldn't have any issues.
