    * HawkHost 11 months review: Awesome !

I have registered a Basic shared hosting at HawkHost from July 20 2010, it's been nearly 11 months.

The first day I come, I've submitted a ticket to transfer from my old hosting company, and it has been completed succesful without a bit of loss data !

One day I'm so sad and crazy I've submitted another ticket and said that I want to move to the fastest server! (for the connection from Asia), and he did it without any question! I'm really surprised!

And today, I've request to move to San Jose (California), the new server and it's the best for Asia visitors, everything perfect after nearly 10 minutes. I'm on Wildcat now

I can't say all cool things that HawkHost has done for me, everything I can say right now is "You're awesome!"

I will keep going with HawkHost for a long long time, till the day I can't use use the computer anymore

    Thank you guys,
    Keep it up!

Why are you welcoming people to WHT, when they have been registered for a year?

Anyone knows whether HawkHost owns their hardwares or they use dedicated servers from softlayer?
I also want to know the same about SpeedySparrow.

A lot of companies will lease their servers from popular datacenters

HawkHost leases them from Softlayer as we lease ours via DedicatedNOW. Not much of a big difference but I will not carry this on as it is not about us, but more about HawkHost.

I think that is not important for the client where company get their servers from. If they are happy with the service overall that is good sign that web host is in a good shape and doing everything perfectly.

We lease hardware from SoftLayer - we choose this approach intentionally as we pay a slight premium but all of our other costs / issues are handled (hardware failures, replacements, switches, etc etc).

No - colocation you purchase a server and send it to the facility. They will rack up the server / give it power / give you connectivity of sorts.

There is indeed a difference - we moved from DedicatedNOW years ago to SoftLayer

    @ CodyRo

Thanks a lot for clearing my doubts.
So, leasing means renting unmanaged dedicated servers?

Does MDD Hosting do the same? I mean lease servers from somewhere?

Yes generally - I suppose one could buy a support contract / managed services for their server but not normally.

MDDHosting now colocates - he previously leased from SoftLayer. This means he owns his hardware and pays the facility for space, power and bandwidth. I forgot the facility he's in at the moment however I'm sure he'll chime in shortly .
