In search of some tips on moving a large site

    Hi all! New here...

Was hoping to get some tips on moving a large site from server to server(different hosts)

Site is about 7GB..and it's slow going...using rsync btw...

Question #1...anything I can do to increase the speed?

Question #2...when should I lower ttl on the domain and lower it to how much? Domain is with 1&1. Moving from a VPS on my old host to a dedicated on new host.

Anything else I should think of? I have seen some tips here and there but I know there are probably things that I haven't come across that may be useful.

Thanks in advance for any help!

you could try using rsync with the -z options to compress the data.
