How much do registrars pay and What are the cheapest domains available?

I am trying to find the cheapest registrar for bulk registration. Please help me find the cheapest one and also does anyone know how much registrars like enom and dotregistrar pay so that I can bargain with them close to that.

Thank you

Each registrar is different. Personally, I don't 'negotiate' on domain names. Pay what I charge or move along...

If you want to register a really LARGE amount of names, you might be better off to get a reseller account yourself. That way you don't have to pay any additional markup.

I do have a reseller account, I register 250+ domains per month.

I am looking for a bargain on 500-1000 domains if I prepay.

Oh, in that case, you might want to just go right to the source. If you're moving a certain number of domain-years a month, (can't remember now...was it 600?) you can get the 6.00 wholesale price from Verisign - I looked into it casually...seems reasonable if you can maintain the numbers needed to justify it.

1. If you want to prepay go directly to enom. You pay them $6950 (1000 domains) and you become an ETP.
2. If you do not want to prepay that much just find another enom reseller and signup under them. In that case there you prepay only $100 or if you use Registry Rocket, you don't prepay anything.

For $6 you will need to go and get icann accredited. Verisign charges $6 per com/net registration per year to all ICANN accredited registrars. Verisign also offers SRSPlus - their program for reselling domain names, but it has rather high fees and all other Verisign normal 'stuff'.

Thanks you everybody for the information, I have found a few registrars who are willing to offer less than $6.50 with their reseller accounts. That was what I was looking for

The cheapest I had seen earlier were DotRegistrar and Directi at $6.50

Cheap isnt always the best idea though. IMHO dotregistrars interface and management is clunky and their support hasnt always been great. Enom is good and OnlineNic (although others I have heard have had problems with them) both have cheap prices, good service and easy management. The management, APIs and that stuff is VERY important for people managing multiple names and reselling so be sure to check out that stuff and not just prices

Dear Apollo,

Yes, registrant transfer is free with us now, and the paper work has been cancelled.

You may check it out at "what is new"at www.onlinenic.com.

I haven't used OnlineNIC, but it's really nice to hear from a registrar's rep, even though it's kind of unofficial.

D'you mind flashing us some ID? so we'll know you are really who you are, like bok (GoDaddy) or MarkMitford (Dotster).

And welcome aboard!
