Sony in a world of pain...

Well it seems that Sony is really not going to see the end of the current issues, it seems their BMG Greece site was recently hacked as well, not to mention the main Sony site inheriting a Phishing Site.

I almost want to say I feel bad for them, then again, you think a company of that size would pay a little more attention to their security. This kind of reminds me of an article I read awhile back where the pentagon was hacked because they were using default passwords on all of their local firewalls and computers lol

Sales and front office are the most visible jobs and get paid handsomely. But risk management faces cost cutting measures. I wonder how much of this is due to lack of visibility from Sony management. Probably IT security was not given good retention bonuses. Proper audit was not done. Too much focus was placed on innovation and market capture.

    It never stops ...

Sony really needs to retain (and utilize) a top outside security consulting form at this point.

Yes, they are the company that had the CEO who called out Anonymous and ended up getting their entire site and servers compromised by the group (probably not the type of people you want to have in charge of your security).

I would imaging it can only get wose before it gets better for them, they have had their networks compromised, they have had those compromisations host phishing sites under their main Sonay address, and have also had a few minor attacks like this one.

I would be really worried if this is the case.

Really goes to show that Cyber-Security is a really big issue. The growing aspects of technology is only heading one way it seems.

they are one of the dirtiest companies around. they deserve it. leave aside the incompetence and negligence regarding security.

and they shouldnt have upset anonymous. anonymous went berserk on them because sony repressed the console modders.

Symantec is actually quite good, really picked up their game in the last few years.

I am not sure how they will address all of these issues though.

For me Sony was always a flagman in electronics! What happened to them? The had the best consoles and if I needed to buy some digital electronics my first option has always been Sony! How did it happen that somebody hacked this system and the company allowed the situation repeat causing a very serious trust crisis! Do you still believe Sony can protect your personal data? I start doubting that!
