    * Verizon iPhone 4 Users

Have a Verizon iPhone 4? Let me know how you like it. I'm wanting to buy one next week because my Droid X has been terrible.

I agree - I would like to hear peoples views on this - I have a droid and would love to go back to an iPhone me thinks.

There's most likely a new iPhone being released in the next 1-2 months, so I really don't think it's a good idea to buy one now, only for it to get outclassed shortly after.

It doesn't seem Apple will introduce a new iPhone at WWDC this June so a September release as rumored does seem more likely. That's still only 3-4 months though so your point stands.

Yep, all of the rumors seem to be pointing towards September rather than June. We'll see.

I have the iPhone 4 with AT&T and Verizon. It works best if it's jailbroken.

I have been using the iPhone 4 from VZW for the past three months with absolutely no problems. I had been using the same phone for quite a few years, so anything was an upgrade.

Not once a dropped call (it used to be virtually impossible for me to talk in a Wal-Mart/Target or the like, but not an issue anymore) or any sort of lagging when using web features.

I take it that you had the AT&T iPhone before? Was it an iPhone 4 on AT&T?

This is actually my first iPhone. I have been with VZW for several years (but I did have at&t back when they were cingular).

The VZW iPhone works as a phone a thousand times better than the ATT versions. Since February not more than a couple of dropped calls and that was only due to tower swaps. The only complaint I have is the IOS update has not come for the newer version that allows it to work with your iTunes library.

The VZW iPhone CAN NOT POSSIBLE 'work a thousand times better than the AT&T version'. Why? One CRITICAL flaw. NO network while on the phone. Gee, that is completely and totally screwed up, but welcome to VZW.

I've NEVER had a dropped call from AT&T. Not saying the signal has always been the best but when it comes to dropped calls, not a single one. Same with VZW though. In fact, coverage for the two seems almost identical.

There have been a few 'no coverage' or 'low coverage' areas for both, but that's to be expected.

Dropped calls on AT&T are mostly in heavily populated areas. For example, in Manhattan this is a pretty big problem (it used to be even worse, I think it has improved a bit over the years).

If you don't live somewhere like that you are probably not going to have an issue with dropped calls, and 3G performance (if covered) will likely be pretty consistent as well. But if you live in Manhattan, then you're going to want to switch to Verizon if you must have an iPhone.

Similarly in and around Boston, I've found Verizon's signal to be much better than AT&T's overall.

Proud of ya on that, the ATT version would not hold a call where I live. As for the no network while on the phone, the ATT network started off just the same and after upgrades that was fixed. Same will be with the VZW in time. The question was better, yes the VZW works much better in my case as the data actually WORKS and you can actually use it as a phone.

For what it's worth, my friends on Verizon also report better signal in the coverage area. They also sometimes have the faster 3G speeds when I don't on AT&T.

I would wait but my screen is cracked and I'd prefer to purchase a new phone as opposed to paying a $50 deductible for the same phone I have (don't like it). I'm fine with having the same iPhone for a year or two.

This is pretty much the case with my friend's ATT 3GS which drops calls left and right in NYC. I've never heard anyone complain so much about a phone/carrier.

I've had the VZW iPhone a month after launch and it has been great so far. No issues.

I second this, I am going to buy the Thunderbolt shortly. If you want internet browsing, Thunderbolt beats iPhone as it has flash.

Thunderbolt operates with Android, which, is a huge plus.

Iphone is more or less for music in my opinion.

Music is a big part of why I want an iPhone. I would rather pay $199 for an iPhone that doubles as an iPod as opposed to spending $199 on a different phone and another $229 on an iPod Touch.

With that being said, the Thunderbolt does look like a pretty cool phone.

Maybe 5 years ago you couldn't talk on the phone and use the internet with AT&T, but nobody cared about it 5 years ago.

At least 2-3 years ago, when people started about doing this, they were able to do this. Not so with VZW

Not with this generation of phone it won't. They've already made it past this in their 4G network, BUT they've already confirmed that the current generation of iPhone won't ever be able to do this, and considering the iPhone isn't 4G compatable yet, well, it just can't be done.

So, because "in your case" the phone works, you ignore the seriously flawed networking concept, and claim it's "better"? Really???

The fact is that VZW is flawed as far as the iPhone is concerned. As of now, the current generation, the iPhone can not talk and use the network at the same time. This isn't something VZW will 'get past', it's a network flaw, and there is no way the phone is 'better' on their network for that reason. Want to just 'talk' on their network? Fine, go out there, get a free phone, don't waste money on an iPhone on a network that can't handle basic capabilities.

Not many people care about it now given how many people have smartphones on VZW. On a regular basis, this is not something that I need or ever use (having to do data + voice at the same time.) What I'd rather have is a superior network and better coverage (read: not AT&T)

We get your point, but there really is no point since in the near future, we'll get an iPhone that supports simultaneous voice and data. We're not talking about 5 years down the road. We all know that iPhones have a yearly release cycle, so the "next" major version is only a year away.

From my experience of traveling and having both AT&T and Verizon, Verizon's network is better overall, end of story. Also, the HTC Thunderbolt released on VZW has simultaneous voice and data (on both 3G and 4G networks), so it's not like it can't be done.

I pre-ordered the Verizon iPhone the day it came out, never looked back since! You'll love it compared to your droid, mine's NEVER froze on me! I just love it! (Trust me, it's worth the money!)
