HDIO_DRIVE_CMD (identify) failed: Invalid argument
I think this is a SAS drive and I want to find the model # but cannot do so, how do I find it?
hdparm -I /dev/sda
hdparm -I /dev/sda1
if you recently booted the server do the following..
dmesg | more
within that you can usually find the drive models
if you have smartctl installed, you can use the command:
smartctl --info /dev/sda
also, have you tried -i instead of -I with hdparm?
if neither of those work than the reason is likely Hardware RAID, in which case you will need to use whatever RAID management software might be required for that particular RAID card.
