How to install CentOS on VPS/Dedicated with minimal Processes, minimal RAM
I'm newbie in Linux. I have a question about install CentOS on a VPS or Dedicated Server.
I rent a CentOS VPS base on OpenVZ. It's working with only 17MB RAM (only OS, no any services). When I install Apache, PHP, MySQL it only use 50MB of RAM.
But, when I install CentOS on VMWare Workstation. I try to install with minimal processes, minimal RAM. So, my OS use over 70MB (only OS, no any services).
I need know how to install CentOS with minimal of RAM usaged, with minimal processes running.
Thank you and so sorry about bad English.
My VPS running with CentOS. So, I can't run this scripts.
This is error:
./remove.sh: line 45: deborphan: command not found
./remove.sh: line 52: deborphan: command not found
./remove.sh: line 57: /usr/bin/aptitude: No such file or directory
./remove.sh: line 60: /usr/bin/aptitude: No such file or directory
Post the output from free -m on the vmware vm. You are probabaly counting caches/buffers in the ram use on the vmware vm, which openvz hides from you. My openvz VPSs use more ram than my KVM VPSs when running the same thing. Openvz counts what your apps allocate, not what they use.
Your openvz VPS's ram use seems kinda high, I have a openvz vps running a few services with 15mb used.
