How much diskspace/bandwidth do you require? Also what is your budget?

With his requirements for ffmpeg the real question should be "how much CPU do you require?". And since he wouldn't be able to answer that, the question should be "what do you need the ffmpeg for, what are you planning to host/do with it?".

It really does just come down to what they plan on using it for, lately I've been noticing a lot of people requesting ffmepg so they could install scripts like clip-share on their websites (which can eat up a lot of resources depending on how many users are accessing the website/uploading videos..ect).

Think the OP has to specify all his needs to get quality advice.

I guess OP needs to encode .avi to .flv, etc. FFmepg is needed for that. You can use FFmpeg or Mencoder. I use Mencoder for one of my sites as the audio/video quality seems to be better and the filesizes are smaller. You may also need FFmpeg-PHP to generate thumbnails.

Most shared hosting companies can host your video files. However i think coolhandle(formerly pronet) is ffmpeg specific. You can also google other hosts in google and research them before deciding to join one of them.

For occasional or light ffmpeg support, most shared hosting providers should be able to accommodate you. However, if you plan on having a busy website you're going to need to find a host that specializes in ffmpeg or get a VPS somewhere. The ffmpeg software can sometimes cause a high load and that's frowned upon in the shared hosting world.
