    HostGator Windows Web Hosting Released

I looked like HostGator has released Windows shared hosting:

    hostgator.com/windows-hosting.shtml

I see tons of reviews about HostGator here but was hoping someone who has actually used their new Windows hosting could leave a review here when they get a chance to test out the services. If I don't get any responses here I guess I will test it out and leave my own review

Thanks for taking the time to read!

Let us know it works out. I'm surprised the gator is so late in offering this.

    Hello,

It seems that they are hosting resellers and have not their own datacenter.

Yes, it says that on their website and pretty much everyone already knows that. I wouldn't say that "hosting resellers" is the best term though - that sounds more like they are on some cheap reseller hosting plan when they actually have 12,000 servers.

Hostgator? I wouldn't think that they would would not own their own windows servers as they have data centers.

No, they don't have their own datacenters. They use the SoftLayer datacenter.

HostGator is the best linux hoster IMO.

But they limited the windows apps memory pool on their windows shared servers to 100MB only!! which is not enough , not enough at all.

So I don't think their windows web hosting will succeed with this unacceptable small limit!.

Arvixe's app pool memory limit for personal package is 250 MB , and 500 MB for business package.

I hope HostGator will consider raising this limit if they really want to compete in windows shared web hosting , and I'm pretty sure they can! with their superior servers and support.

Interesting. I've noticed they've been hiring Windows administrators for a while now. I'm somewhat surprised they've chosen Plesk though.

Yes, but Parallel's support of their products is notoriously bad. One of the reason I chose to pick Enkompass hosting for my clients was cPanel's amazing support.

Stupid question probably but why would you want Windows Hosting? Seems like you can do everything you could ever want with Linux hosting and get better pricing...

ASP/.NET full compatibility, and a pretty powerful web.config. Mostly ASP/.NET though.

    Hi john,

The best is very subject, but ASP is an extremely robust programming language that many people prefer to code in.

    People really still use ASP/.NET?

I thought PHP and Ruby on Rails was taking over? Is Windows more for legacy development or are people actively creating new things on ASP?

Sorry, I just hang-out with a lot of people running startups and they are totally hooked on Ruby on Rails, haven't heard a single person ever mention a project in ASP since I was in college 7 years ago

No offense meant for the Windows geeks in here, honestly just interested in understanding the market better!

    Hello,

I think plesk is the best control panel for windows hosting as I have used it for more than 5 years and its a very user friendly control panel .
