    * Orhan Pamuk: Love is attachment?

Famed Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk, a Nobel Laureate, was interviewed by Charlie Rose recently in Istanbul. The interview aired on May 13, 2011, as part of Rose's three-day look at Turkey. The interview can be viewed here.

In this interview, Pamuk made an interesting remark: That love is attachment.

It struck me as really interesting. What do you folks think? Would you agree with this view of love?

rather true. what is generally described as 'love' in literature and daily life seems to be temporal conditions of attraction that end up being due to differences in two persons' energetical/psychological situations.

person a has abundance of energy in, say, balance a, person b has abundance of energy in balance b, both need the energy each other can supply in differing amounts, and an attraction ensues.

after the potential difference in between people subside, and the energy transfers are done, the attraction weakens. but, the persons want to keep that feeling/attraction despite there is no foundation for it, still, so fights, problems ensue, and eventual break up.

love in enduring sense is something that happens not due to potential differences of energy in between entities, but, rather due to the appreciation and attraction to each others' true nature and character.
