    * Web host below $10?

Can anyone recommend a good US or UK based web host below $10 other than hostgator?

$10 a month or per year? The "animal hosts" seem to be popular around here. Sparrow host or something.

With most hosts you can get a basic plan for under $10 per month.

    $10 per year? I wouldn't touch it!

LOL, yesterday I found another thread here on WHT forum, the OP told that he host his account with a web host company for only $1 for 3 years (and surely, he's been suffering with the downtime/slow access)

By the way, have you checked on the WHT's hosting offer section?
I believe your budget ($10/month) is more than enough for a shared hosting (linux hosting?). Maybe you can tell your hosting requirement details (disk sapce, bandwidth, etc)?

Semoweb had some $10/year plans at one point.
Stablehost is another good one with low-cost plans to consider.

$10 a year would be silly!

You get what you pay for..

I'd recommend that you choose an unknown host. Some hosts get too big and don't care about clients at all.

Are you seeking a per month plan, or a plan for $10.00 a year?

There are plenty of hosts that would suit you. I can only assume that your budget is $10/month. That is extremely reasonable and you will have no problem finding a good quality, premium shared host.

What specs are you looking at? Im assuming Linux,

From previous posts, I think it's clearly understand that the OP doesn't want to seeking for a plan for $10.00/year.

I'm very happy with the support and service I get from MDDHosting.com (I have a VPS there, and not a shared hosting account, but notice they have a shared account for less than $8 a month).

The forums there are open to the public, so you can see the kind of issues they have, and how they respond. All of the people using their shared hosting seem happy.

Well, we need to know your requirements for disk space, bandwith etc.
For basic need you may choose Totalchoicehosting's starter plan: 6$ a month, 55$ a year (10 Gb space, 300 GHb bandwith).

LOL, $10 for 1 year is not the area i want to go in

I just need a small basic linux hosting for my design service. Even my current site only use 1 mysql database and 3 email accounts, thats it.

Thanks for suggestions guys. I've narrowed down to sparrowhost, mddhosting and bluehost. I'm going with one of them.

Eh.. I would definitely cross Bluehost off your list, probably not the most dependable web host I have ever come across on WHT (constantly reading bad reviews about them).

Agreed! We get many of BlueHost's clients. The most common complaint is being extremely locked down and slow connections.

If those are your final choices, one vote for MDD hosting here..

Two different beasts entirely. For starters usually larger quota's, higher reliability, unbranded / unobtrusive (no inserting of ads, etc). Essentially you get what you pay for - if you're a hobbyist just dabbling in web hosting perhaps a free host would be suitable but if you're looking for any sort of reliability you're generally going to want to pay for a service (just like anything, I suppose).

    *EDIT*

Just to clarify even paying for a budget host (like us, or others mentioned in this thread) can make a huge difference in terms of the service provided. I realize you may be making a tongue in cheek comment .

    I thought it wasn't.

That is still very small, very minimal actually.

Just to clarify, it is "SpeedySparrow"

Best of Luck with MDDHosting, Mike is amazing person so you should have a really good experience with them.
